Then & Now

Double Photo TestOne good thing about writing a blog is that it works like a diary, documenting my makeup menus from week to week and acting as a bit of a time capsule for my cosmetics tastes. Every now and again I like to take a peruse through – ignoring the crappy copy and 😉 littered text – and see what I was sporting on my face back in the day. Old favourites are often rediscovered, some choices cringed at and the fact that I’m always going to be a neutral makeup gal is as bright as as day. Here’s a beauty blast from the past compared to a more recent offering…

23rd July 2011My Five Minute Face: Origins Vitazing Moisturiser, CHANEL Mat Lumiére Foundation in 40, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand, MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Medium, Sleek Contour Kit in Medium, Dior Amber Diamond Highlighting Powder, L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara, MAC Lipstick in Myth.

3rd June 2013The Smudged-Out Smokey: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in 6, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand, Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette, MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair, L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara, MaxFactor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Pink.

Lessons learned from a trawl through the archives? L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara deserves a medal for outstanding service to my makeup bag, along with Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. I need to repurchase Origins Vitazing. How did I ever think I could get away with MAC’s Myth on the lips!? Where has the Sleek Contour Kit gone? I need to dust it off and rediscover its awesomeness. And wow, I really did like to cake on the base. My daily face is definitely dwindling with a total of six products having been brought out to cover, contour and create glow two years ago, to just two a few weeks ago. Who knows perhaps in another two years I’ll just be cracking out a BB? Crazier things have happened…
