The Smudged-Out Smokey

IMG_5301

You know the deal by now. When it comes to eye makeup I’m all over the whole one shade, smudged all over the lid thang. Done. Easy enough for my cack-handed grip to master and simple enough for my no-fuss makeup tastes. There’s plenty of colours in my collection that fit this blended lid bill, but a new one has been welcomed into the eye arsenal and it’s gooood. MAC’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair, a warm metallic brown, part of the Baking Beauties range that ended up in my possession after a peer pressure domino effect from Lily, passed on to Amelia, egged on to me. And it was love at first smudge. A rusty, copper-flecked wash that blends out with the help of a MAC 224 Brush to a cooler, almost burgundy tone around the edges making it look like you’ve gone to much more hassle than you actually have – win. Plus the formula’s on point too; maliable but not too creamy and best of all it does not budge even on oily peepers like mine.

Smokey stares aside the rest of my makeup roster read a little like this: Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation in 6 and Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer in Sand patted into place with fingertips – no change there. My bushy brows were coaxed with Hourglass’ Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette and a slick of L’Oreal’s Telesopic Waterproof Mascara sorted my lashes (with this stuff getting even harder to find I’ve started to stock-up and currently have three tubes waiting in the wings). I rounded everything off with a dab of the MaxFactor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Pink on the lips – the best thing I’ve picked up from Boots in a long while – slippy enough to add a pinch of colour to the cheeks or pout and in a flattering suits-all shade; expect this to headline a budget buy video bonanza soon.

Here’s the stickler, being a bit late on the Baking Beauties bandwagon Eclair is long gone unless you find one that’s managed to slip through the net on counter. In which case – what you waiting for? But in a more helpful conclusion, the Longwear Paint Pots are pretty awesome and well worth sticking your finger into next time you stumble across a MAC offering. Smudged-out smokey perfection.
