My 5 Minute Face

I know that for most (myself included), time is a little constricted in the mornings. As a massive lover of sleep – I have been known to say that it is my favourite thing in the world to do 😉 I would rather have those extra precious 10 minutes in bed. This obviously conflicts for my love of preening and pampering, so I have devised a quick 5 minute face that gives me a ‘naturally-enhanced’ look shall we say, but can easily be done in Superwoman-like time.

First of all I cleanse and tone my face, you know the drill here – the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser and Instant Boost Skin Tonic, boom! Then I devise my own little moisturiser/foundation hybrid, equal amounts of smaller-than-pea-size blobs of the Origins Vitazing Moisturiser and the Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation (there is a full review of that here), warmed up in the palms and then applied to the face with my hands. This gives a really nice, pretty medium coverage finish to the skin with a slight glow to it as well. Then I conceal my baggy eyes with my trusty Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, this stuff works miracles, seriously! Again, I stuff using a brush and just apply with my fingers – we only have 5 minutes here people! A light dusting of my go-to setting powder, MAC’s Mineralise Skinfinish natural with a kabuki and I’m already half-way there.

When it comes to cheeks, I will admit I have been getting lazy. I grab my MAC 109 Brush, roll it in the matte dark brown powder side of the Sleek Contour Kit, blend it under the cheeks and I have something on my face that slightly resembles cheekbones. Again, I grab the same brush, dust it in the AAAMAZING Dior Amber Diamond Highlighting Powder and pop this on the top of the cheeks. Cheeks done!
At this stage, I probably could walk out the door, as I’m all about ‘the base’ when it comes to makeup, but there is one final step – lashes! Out come the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers (best in the biz – trust), to give my lashes a bit of a lift. A quick coat of the waterproof version of L’oreal Telescopic mascara (waterproof formulations keep a curl better don’t you know) and then I’m ready!
I’m sure you would have realised that I’ve skipped a lip product. In a dreamworld I would preferably like about 10 minutes to consider my lip product choice of the day, however what happens in reality is I grab the first lippie that catches my eye as I rush out the door. The commuting population then have the joy of  watching me applying this wonkily on the train. Over the past weeks, MAC’s Myth (pictured), Shy Girl and Please Me have been ‘grabbed’ a lot, along with Topshop’s Coy Lip Pencil and YSL’s Pure Shine in 148 Tea Rose. All pretty neutral colours, but ones that you can reapply really easily. As you can tell, lipstick is where I tend to experiment (a little), but the base of the makeup pretty much stays the same.
Ok, ok so by the time I’ve piled this on, more like 8 minutes have passed, but still it’s under 10 minutes and that is surely impressive 😉 In total, only 8 makeup products, 2 brushes and an eyelash curler have been used – not bad!
