A Natural Deodorant THAT WORKS

I mentioned a few weeks back that I’d been involved in some intense Google research sessions into the benefits, best-ofs and backstory of natural deodorant. A quick search of the term will give you over 3 million results should you wish to peruse as well. The long and short of it is that applying hardcore stuff like anti-perspirant so close to your boobies may not be the best idea. Given that I’m trying to be a little cleaner with my lifestyle choices I’d thought I’d give au naturale deod a go. Now I’ve trialled a few before but ended up being able to smell myself about two hours post-application (I’m a sweaty betty as I’ve mentioned before). So I didn’t have high hopes. But after trawling through reviews I noticed Soapwalla’s Deodorant Cream constantly cropping up as a favourite, could it be mine too? Into the basket it went…

Ok – the top line – it’s a balm textured formula that melts when it comes into contact with your skin, then dries a few minutes later and stops the stench with a mixture of vegetable powders, clays and essential oils (tea tree, peppermint and lavender FYI, which smells ah-mazing). No petroleum, no aluminium, just the good stuff. It’s a weird sensation to get used to, slapping a tub-housed mixture under you arms then flapping them in the air waiting for it to dry, but after a few weeks of use I’m used it. And here’s the best bit; 12 hours after application complete with sweat inducing tube journeys and all, I don’t reek. Result.

The catch? Some people can find the high Sodium Bicarbonate content a little aggravating (though this isn’t something I’ve had a problem with yet), it can get a little messy around items of black clothing (a.k.a basically my whole wardrobe) and as it’s not an antiperspirant things do get a little damp. Nice. But the good outweighs the bad and it must be doing a good job as I tossed out my Mitchum the other day and you know how I felt about that stuff.

I ordered this from Being Content for £14, not the cheapest of choices, but I’d hedge bets on the fact that this tub will last yonks. So there you have it – a natural deodorant that isn’t the pits. I’m sorry, I had to…
