The ‘Summer’ Coat For Not-So-Toasty Days

Reiss Coat

I’m writing this post about a week in advance so it will be just my luck that the week that this goes out will have been brimming with scorching heat and we’ve all been rocking shorts and skirts for the first time this year, but as of right now the weather just ain’t cutting it like I would like it to be for mid-June. MID-JUNE! By now I’ve usually almost passed out on the tube at least three times due to extreme stuffiness. Instead we’ve had a few picnic-worthy days along with a load of other days that started off well, but you end up freezing your nuts off by the end if you decided to head out without a jacket. Here’s where my problem lies. I don’t have that many coat options; just my leather jacket and few wool-heavy numbers that keep me toasty on the coldest of days, so I don’t really have too many that occupy the jacket department; everything else is just too heavy to carry around once things warm up by midday. However, I found the solution and it comes in the form of Reiss’ 1971 Radzi Tiramisu Relaxed Trench Coat

Having never owned a trench coat before, it’s been a bit of a revelation. The fit is just perfection (I have the size M FYI) and sits and nips in all the right places making it a more casual addition to any outfit when it’s worn open or a more formal affair to an ensemble when it’s buttoned up. It’s like a much (MUCH) chicer version of the item of clothing that I get the most wear out of… my dressing gown. I joke, but seriously it makes me wonder why I’ve never got round to purchasing one before. And did you hear the name of the colour? ‘Tiramisu’ – amazing.

Aside from making any clothing I wear it with instantly look more put together (read: T-shirt and jeans), it’s also the perfect fabric for not-so-toasty days. Thick enough to provide a bit of a barrier to the elements, but light enough that you don’t boil and it’s not too heavy to haul around if you fancy taking it off. I see me wearing this right up until it snows later in the year and I admit defeat and head back to my wool, but for right now it’s my second skin (bar my dressing gown obvs).

It’s a pricey purchase, but let me tell you – this fits like a glove and if you’re on the hunt for a bargain they have some similar styles in their sale. Wait did someone say sale? BRB.
