The MAC Patisserie ‘M.L.B.B’ Alternatives

IMG_7988

When it doubt, reach for MAC Lipstick in Patisserie. Isn’t that how the saying goes? It’s been my go-to, goes with everything nude for years, but recently there have been some new ‘My Lips But Better’ shades coming to market that have been shoving my ol’ fave to the side. Wanna have a look?

For a touch of gloss… Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Lunch Date. I love Tanya’s glosses. I think they do a great job of bringing it in terms of pigment and gloss, without bringing the sticky. They smell good enough to eat and the applicator dishes out just the right amount of product so things never get gloopy. I’d say the colour is probably the best match of them all. It’s got that dusky pink, nude thing down.

For a hint of pink… Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Nude Pink. This new one from Burberry is probably the pinkest of them all, but I just love the feel of this on my lips and the fact that there’s a touch of colour that’s not necessarily present in my natural lip shade, but that it still looks very natural when applied. There’s a hint of sheen and there’s not that caramel colour that’s present in Patisserie, but in terms of the long-wearing, but kinda sheeny finish it’s spot-on.

For the new nude… CHANEL Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne. Think Patisserie, but with a bit more peach in it and without the tiny (barely noticeable) flecks of shimmer and then you end up with Adrienne. It’s very similar in consistency too in that it gives a decent whack of colour to the lips, but is still very light and nourishing. If I had to pick my favourite of the pack, it would be this.

For a sheer sheen... Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in 01. This is obviously the most balm like of the four and the most sheer, but in terms of ‘putting on without a mirror’ ability, it comes out top. Just like their best-selling glosses, it swipes on with the sweet smell of vanilla and is one of the products that I can see 99.99% of the makeup wearing population loving. In terms of Patisserie comparisons, it’s a little lighter in colour and texture, but that whole M.L.B.B thing is still there.

Patisserie, these perky pinks are fast catching up with ya…
