The BECCA Bits That Leave My Skin Glowing

If there’s one brand that has really got me going recently, it’s BECCA. I feel like Hourglass are up there as well because I use their Ambient Lighting Edit most days and it makes me feel all glowy and lovely, but making me feel even lovelier are some gems from good ol’ BECCA.

It all began back when I purchased their Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone, thanks to the constant raves of Nikkie. She pipped it as the perfect highlighter for paler complexioned gals and guys and boy was she right. There was something about it that just hit the perfect glow-giving bill right on the top of head. Not too frosty or obvious-looking on the skin – I sometimes dust it on on no-makeup days just because it makes me feel all juicy and healthy in the skin department. I love it so much that although I start with the intention of just applying it along the tops of my cheekbones, I often end up dusting it over my whole face. You get the gist.

So it’s no surprise that I’ve also fallen in love with the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured in Moonstone, which is basically the cream-textured sister of the pressed version. Think light, shimmery butter for the skin. The formula isn’t greasy, nor too gritty to blend out – it’s right in the middle – and the colour is once again spot-on. It’s a golden yellow that doesn’t jar against my skin, but instead looks like the dewiest version of it. Now whether I prefer it to the powder version depends on how I’m feeling that day. Sometimes I’m a little greasier than usual and quite like the long-lasting nature of the pressed, but other times I’m feeling ‘meh’ and dry and appreciate the addition of a cream on the cheeks. Yup, work with me here – I’m just trying to justify my possession of both.

The other product that is bringing luminosity in abundance is their Backlight Priming Filter, which surprise, surprise – I also adore. From the minute I first saw this on Cult Beauty I knew I’d be a fan. I mean, the clue is in the name – who doesn’t want a constant backlight filter on their face? It’s the whole ‘glowing from within’ skin dream! At its core it’s a radiance-boosting primer, but it’s one of those multi-taskers that can be mixed with foundations or applied over your base as a liquid highlighter and let me tell you – if you used it as all three functions everyday for a whole year, you still wouldn’t use up the whole bottle. A little goes a long way with this stuff and personally I like it applied underneath bases to amp up the sheen. The pearl in it is never glittery, nor too warm or cool like I’ve found other primers to sometimes be and again, like Moonstone, it’s flattering in a ‘What? I swear I haven’t got anything on my face’ kinda way.

These are keepers for sure and if I could look into my Mystic Meg crystal ball I reckon these will be favourites that I’ll still be raving about in years to come. BECCAthank you for bringing that J.Lo glow like no other brand can.
