The Beauty Bits That I’ve Used Up Recently

EMPTIES TIME!

I’ve been on a real using-up kick recently. Whether it be the Diary Milk Chocolate Buttons in the fridge that just must be eaten immediately, or the million and one shampoos that I’ve got on back-up – it always feels nice to use something up till the end right? So today I thought I’d share you with the beauty products that I’ve used up recently, right up until the very last drop. I’ve kept them upside down, scooped out the insides with a cotton bud and sliced the plastic open because they’re all things that I just can’t be without right now. From shampoos to serums, they will all come as no surprise, but hey – at least you know I love ’em…

Bumble & Bumble Sunday ShampooRepurchased: 20+ times. Although I’ve kind of lost count of how many bottles of this I’ve gone through, I know it’s been a lot, which makes me feel a little ill when I think of how expensive it is. However, it’s just a match made in heaven for my ‘greasy within a day’ follicles. I try to lessen the blow by using up my Boots Advantage Card points to purchase new bottles and I always make sure that I have back-ups in my drawers because whenever it’s gone my hair turns into one lanky, stringy mess without it. The formula will not be your best friend if you have coloured or course hair, but if it has a tendency to look like you could fry an egg on it after a day after washing, or gets a little built-up with grime or product, then it’s definitely worth a go.

Glossier Milky Jelly CleanserRepurchased: 3 times. I picked up my first bottle of this back in April and have since used up every last smidge of product. I even cut it open to scoop every last bit out. So on my last visit to NYC I made sure that I stocked up to keep me going until Glossier begin to ship to the UK later this year. This isn’t a great cleanser for removing makeup (I take that off with a makeup remover pre-cleanse), nor if you have really dry skin (mine tends to be more combination), but I love how fresh and soft my skin feels after using it. Since I switched up my routine earlier in the year to include a lot of Glossier bits, it’s looked the best it has in yonks and so now I’m pretty loyal to the bits I’m using. I think they’ll be plenty more repurchases of this one.

Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover. Repurchased: 8 times? It might even be more. You lot know that I only ever wear waterproof mascaras. Mainly because they’re the only mascara formulas that hold a curl, but also because otherwise I end up looking like a panda. So therefore I need something industrial strength to get it off. That’s where this comes in. Nothing gets rid of it quite like this does. It literally does a disappearing act to any makeup that’s long-wearing and hardy. It’s worth noting that the ‘Gentle’ version is nowhere near as intense in its removal powers, and it’s worth looking out for ‘Gift With Purchase’ deals on counter as you can often bag yourself miniature versions to travel with. And what’s cuter than a miniature, eh?

Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner. Repurchased: 3 times. I love a bit of self-tan. Always have, always will. However because of cleansing, it always disappears from my face first, so this is the perfect top-up to throw on at the end of your skincare routine to keep things looking glowy come the morning. It never streaks, although it can leave your hand looking like you’ve dipped it in a bag of wotsit dust if you forget to rinse your palms after application. The best thing about it is that you can apply it and then five minutes later it’s like you never even did. It sinks in, doesn’t smell funky, nor break me out. However when I wake up the next day I just feel like my face looks brighter and doesn’t require as hefty coverage from my base products and I can live out my Glossier gal dream.

Glossier Super Bounce Serum. Repurchased: 4 times. Can you spot a bit of a theme here? I picked up the Super Set back in April and after using them all for a couple of days when I was in NYC, I went back to get another one of these before I left. I’m pleased I did because the amount of product in here is tiny (15ml – boo!) and so through daily AM and PM use, I went through it pretty quickly. So I’m now on my second bottle and picked up another two last week because I’m pretty addicted to it. I have back-ups galore! It’s a Hyaluronic Acid pumped serum and so brings the hydration and dewiness by the bucket load. The other serums don’t even come close to it for me.

Glossier Boy Brow in Brown. Repurchased: 2 times. I was lucky enough that a friend sent me a tube of this when it was first released and I fell in love with it pretty much straight away. The colour is spot-on, the formula leaves my brows feeling in place, without feeling crusty or tacky and it gives a bit of beef and texture to them. It’s exactly what I want out of a brow gel. My only quibble is that for the first couple of weeks of use, a little bit too much comes out on the wand and so you have to scrape it back in the tube and it can get a little messy. I actually bought it in the clear version too when I was away last week and I *might* like it even more. NYC haul coming up next…
