The Beauty Bag with Tanya Burr

For this month’s Beauty Bag serving I’ve roped in beauty enthusiast and all-round YouTube aficionado, Tanya Burr. Who – fun fact -was one the first people I ever pressed play to on the video sharing site. Anytime we’ve bumped into each other on the makeup circuit, she always looks über glam so she’s the perfect candidate to divulge the product menus for her flawless base and pinky pout look. Speaking of lips, I managed to catch Tanya moments before (literally five minutes prior to), the press launch of her Lip Gloss and Nail Polish range which is now available on FeelUnique. Don’t worry I managed to squeeze all the goss behind the range out of her as well as a brief on how her daily beauty bag shapes up. I know, don’t I treat you well?

“For base I love the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab because it gives such a flawless finish and it lasts all day – I know that I won’t need to touch it up all night. I might add powder every now and then though. In the morning I use my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, but I don’t carry it around with me because it doesn’t have a mirror in the compact, so instead I take the Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder – I’m not too fussy when it comes to what powder I take out with me. For concealer I’m currently loving the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Peach. They say that you’re supposed to use concealer on top of this, but the corrector is so good I just use it on its own. I’ve just bought a new one, so it’s looking all lovely and untouched. My last one was totally used up; it’s kind of brightening and the peachy colour is really good as it cancels out the blue tones. NARS Laguna Bronzer really is the best bronzer ever. I love how it looks like such an unattractive colour in the pan, but it comes out so natural on the cheeks as it doesn’t have any orange undertones.

Then there’s the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Chestnut – I forgot this was in here! Oh yes, it’s completely used up, but I just carry it around for the brush on the end. It is the nicest brow pencil you’ll ever use; it’s so expensive, but there’s just something about it (at this point I interjected and suggested she try the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil, because you all know how I feel about that). Mascara-wise I love the Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara. Sometimes people ask me if I’ve got falsies on when I use this. And for lip balm the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is just the one. I have big lips so I feel like I’m the best person to give lip products a fair test. They’re are so dry and whenever I turn to something new, I always come back to the Elizabeth Arden.

From my Lip Gloss and Nail Polish range I’m currently wearing the Lip Gloss in Picnic in the Park and Nail Polish in Mini Marshmallows. The gloss is super girly, but it’s quite sheer and really easy to wear. I would definitely say that it’s my favourite from the range – it’s the most ‘me’. Some glosses make me feel more grown-up or vampish – but this one just makes me feel the most pretty. The Nail Polish in Mini Marshmallows is the colour that I don’t even have to think about and can just throw it on. I’m so glad it worked out the way that I wanted it to. I said I wanted a really pink shade, with quite a lot of white in it, so it looks very pastel-ly on the nails. I’d pick this as the easiest to wear, but if I had to pick a favourite….I couldn’t pick one. I do love Little Duck though, it’s a mint green (at this point Tanya Burr’s Dad comes over and shows me his thumb nail which is lacquered up in Little Duck – I think we all know what his favourite is – what a guy).”
