Pixi Skincare is All Kinds of Awesome

IMG_0181

It’s very rare that I discover a new skincare love. Partly because I’m a stubborn old thing and like to stick to what I know and also because what I’ve got going on currently is sort of working out for me so I don’t like to rock the boat too much. Though when Caroline Hirons is raving about a skincare brand from the rooftops, I listen up. So Pixi Skincare is as she says, all kinds of awesome. I’ve tried a fair amount of bits and bobs for the range and so far I’ve liked everything I’ve tried. The formulas feel luxury, do what they say on the tin and don’t cost the earth. Of course there are things that are likes and things that are loves/OMGs/please don’t let me ever be without them, so today I’m summarising the latter for you. Here are my top Pixi picks…

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser – £18 – from Pixi Beauty. Now you know that nothing is ever going to tip the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel off the top cleanser spot, but occasionally I’ve been adding this into my routine and it makes a nice change. There’s a dose of 5% Glycolic in the formula which makes this a bit of a mini quick-fire exfoliating mask almost. I like to use it to cleanse in the evenings of no makeup days or as a second cleanse when I’ve been wearing a shedload of makeup to brighten and mop up every last trace of makeup.

Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream – £24 – from Pixi Beauty. When Lily came to stay a few weekends ago, we spent a good 10 minutes as we were taking our makeup off that evening raving about this. Lily described it as ‘silk for your skin’ and I don’t think I can describe it any better than that. It’s rich and smooth and glides over the skin leaving a very refreshed feel. A great pick for those with combination complexions that need something to tend to dry patches, whilst not overdosing on the grease.

Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask – £18 – from Pixi Beauty. I haven’t used sleep masks in a while, so this felt like a drink for my skin when I first applied it. I could practically hear it sighing, ‘THANK YOU!‘. Some overnight leave-on formulas can feel too heavy and claggy on the skin and I go to bed feeling a bit sticky *shivers*, but this absorbs well in a satisfying way where you know it’s still there but you can’t feel it too much. For me it performs well when I don’t fancy the texture of an oil, but need something with a bit more oomph than a standard moisturiser and boy does my skin feel smooth the next morning after using this.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist – £18 – from Pixi Beauty. I think this might be my favourite of them all. I love a good spritz and this one sits on the side of my desk for throughout the day moisture boosts. Sometimes I just feel dry, especially when we have the heating cranked up to high, so this just adds a bit of dewiness to my face. I like to think of it as a liquid moisturiser. It’s light, sinks in quickly and after a few minutes all that’s left behind is a light glow. It doesn’t cause makeup to slide all over your face either, so I use it on makeup and makeup-free days alike.

Pixi – you’re on point when it comes to skincare and whilst we’re on the subject, who’d be up for an updated skincare routine? Holler below…
