New Beauty Launches That You Need to Sniff Out

Scroll down below to see them put to the test…

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been hoarding new beauty launches and keeping my eye on the latest releases that I think might be worthy of a spot in my everyday line-up. I definitely don’t pay as much attention to them as I used to in the past because if I did I’d get to the point where I could build myself a little fort in my office out of it all. I love a good streamline, I like to keep things minimal and I like to use things up and in order to tick off those three boxes I tend to focus on my old favourites. However, last week I switched it up and tried out one new item each day, along with showing you the rest of the makeup that I piled on my face. Scroll down to the end of this post to watch the video, but in the meantime I thought I’d give you some swatches and more info, just incase your forgot your headphones on your commute this morning…

CHANEL Le Teint Ultra Tenue Foundation. There’s an influx of new foundation formulas heading our way at the moment and they all seem to be high-coverage, long-lasting and more on the matte side of things. Has glow had it’s moment? Don’t worry I’m sure I’ll be rocking the semi-greasy look for years to come. I’m usually a fan of CHANEL foundations, but this one just didn’t work out for me. My skin is dehydrated and needs moisture out of a base, so I wasn’t really the perfect test candidate for this. Oily-skinned gals and guys who fancy some shine-control in their life, this might be a good one for you to try.

BECCA First Light Priming Filter. Speaking of glow, this primer hands it over by the bucketload. I was initially a little put off by the lilac tint, but on the skin it transforms into a slightly iridescent luminescence that made me look like I had actually drunk my recommended water intake for the day. SCORE. I find it to work really well on days when all I can be bothered to put on is concealer as it adds radiance and just makes things look a lot healthier than they are without it. I almost don’t want to put anything on top! If they made a green-tinted version of this, it would make an extremely red-toned gal very happy indeed (that’s me).

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Palette (out Feb 14th). Hourglass know how to make products that are easy on the eye and it’s hard not to go all heart-eye emoji when you first see this. With its pinky, loved-up tones I can’t think of a better day than Valentine’s for this to be released. Inside there are three powders ranging from a peachy pink (HELLO!), to a warm bronze that works well as a bronzer on me but would act as a great highlight on deeper skintones and then a mauve-plum that’s a great option again for deeper skintones or more of a winter blush on me. It’s pricey, but if you fancy a one-stop-shop cheek wardrobe then it’s probably worth the investment. You just can’t go wrong with a good ol’ Hourglass powder.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss. I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t get excited about the Too Faced Sweet Peach collections. I feel like a couple of year’s ago I would have gone mad for the peachy-pink lip, cheek and eyeshadow offerings but there’s something about the branding, the smell, just everything – that kind of puts me off. So I went into this test bias and although these glosses are nice, there’s nothing to write home about. There’s also nothing to complain about either so if you’re in the market for a glossy balm in a peach colour, then go ahead; but for me, they’re a little underwhelming and it’s worth putting your money elsewhere for a sheer swipe of gloss *cough* Clarins *cough*.

ZOEVA Matte Eyeshadow Palette. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a furore on Twitter as when I posted a picture of this palette. For me right now and my current makeup tastes this ticks all my eyeshadow criteria. It’s primarily warm-toned, it’s matte and although there are some slightly out-there colours in there, they’re all wearable and make me feel like I’m being ‘daring‘. LOLZ. It’s fair to say that I’m in love with the palette (and I’m in love with the price – £17.50!). I’m also a fan because two of the shades in there are almost exact dupes for my top MAC eyeshadows – Sable and Soba. If you fancy an in-depth look at the line-up, check out this blog post.
