My Top 10 Online Recipes

Food

I’m a big fan of cooking. I’m also a big fan of the Internet. And when the two come together you find some pretty ah-mazing recipes and how-to videos. Despite having a bookshelf full of cookbooks I manage to find the deets for most of the things that I rustle up in the kitchen, from the web thanks to points in the right direction from all sorts of social media channels. The place is full of ’em and I’m not complaining so here are my current top 10 recipes that I’ve bookmarked…

BREAKFAST:

Gluten & Diary Free Crepes from Amelia Liana. If I had a penny for everytime I’d rustled up a batch of these, eh? I like to top them off with a dollop of Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit and my current modification is subbing a quarter of the flour for the same amount of vanilla protein powder to up the protein in this über tasty breakfast.

Coconut Chia Seed Porridge from Fashercise. I’d given chia a few goes in different guises as a breakfast but it wasn’t until I found this way to chow down on them that I really got into the idea. Belly-filling, thick and creamy coconut goodness that I like to pair with a few hunks of pineapple for a more tropical twist on porridge.

LUNCH:

Power Protein Soup from Essiebutton. I think this week marks the fifth batch of this that I’ve cooked up. It’s just so tasty. I tend to throw in whatever vegetables I have hanging around and also blend the roasted veg to make things a bit more thick. I make huge batches and pop half in the freezer and the rest in my fridge for my lunch for the week.

Raw Pad Thai from LipSoFacto. The perfect summer salad. Refreshing and though I did have to buy quite a few bits and bobs initially they’re all ingredients that I’ve used since as I’ve got a bit more adventurous with my cooking. I add in prawns and keep the chilli content down low so my wimpy tastes can handle it.

Broccoli Soup by What’s Up Moms. Oh I do love a good soup. A little quicker to whip up than the previous one and with a higher greenery content, if ever you spot a good offer on broccoli then whip them up and make this. A tasty soup that’s so ridiculously cheap to buy the stuff for and it fills you up real good.

DINNER:

Ultimate Spaghetti Carbonara from BBC Good Food. Sometimes you just want some good, hearty (carby) comfort food and when I do, this is what I rustle up. It’s one of those recipes where you’ve already got all the ingredients already and it takes approximately 10 minutes to make. Speedy.

Chipotle Quinoa Sweet Potato Burgers from Shape. In the past year Mark and I have found ourselves becoming rather fond of veggie burger recipes. Cheaper than their equivalents this is a newish recipe in my repertoire and is fast becoming a favourite. We have it with roasted vegetables and a hefty dollop of guacamole.

DESSERT:

Strawberries and Cream Cheesecake Jar from BBC Good Food. I’ve mentioned this recipe before, but if you’ve ever got people coming over and need to whip up a dessert that looks visually impressive but actually took you about 10 minutes to do then this is your guy. It’s not all talk and no trousers though because it tastes lovely too.

Vegan Peanut Butter Pretzel Truffles from Minimalist Baker. When I have these in my fridge I can’t help myself but to eat about five a day. Sweet and salty goodness it’s my favourite type of flavour combination. Easy to make and a good thing to offer as gift for another or just yourself.

Salted Caramel Apple Crumble from Nouvelle Daily. Another sweet and salty recipe – you sensing a theme here? A twist on a classic crumble, the caramel sauce in this is just TOO GOOD. Be warned because you will end up standing there for 20 minutes licking the pan clean.

It was tough to just round this off to just 10 as there’s probably more like 30 online recipes that are currently in my bookmark bank. Perhaps this is part one of a handful?
