My Mani Mantra

With a successful stint in nail rehab almost complete (despite a little fooling around with feathers mid-stay break), my mind is firmly stuck on the subject of nail colour. I just can’t seem to shake it. It’s like one of those ‘don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone and there’s 40 of them staring in a drawer back at you crying to be painted onto your talons’ situations. But while pondering all things lacquer, one clear thought has come to the forefront – my mani mantra – if in doubt, paint on Nails Inc’s Porchester Square. When I finally decide my nails are ready to be treated with a layer of colour again, this is top of my list. Have I raved about this enough in the past few weeks? No I think not. A perfect blend of grey, lavender and beige – I’ve now christened it my favourite nail colour of all time. Say what?!

So I’d like to turn the question round onto you – what’s your mani mantra? What colour tops your polish charts? And yes I know, this will be a huge tease for me. As soon as the comments start rolling in I’m sure I’ll be inching closer to my lacquer drawer…

What a lovely colour! For me, when I’m in doubt I always choose OPI Tickle My France-y, it’s the perfect nude! 🙂

  • Sami Kwok

    Essie’s eternal optimist for me!

  • Louisa

That’s my all-time favourite colour too! It’s so flattering and kind of nude but a bit more interesting – love it.

Catrice’s Very Berry: lavender with some subtle scattered holo. So incredibly pretty.

    • Laure

Oops, mixed the name up with one of their other products. It’s called Dirty Berry.

  • OPI Samoan Sand. So utterly perfect.

  • Allison

When in doubt Essie’s Mademoiselle! My mom swears by OPI’s Nomads dream

  • Jacqui Taylor

Shellac Tropix with Gold Sparkle over the top!

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark! Vampy classic.

I have to agree, if I had to wear only one polish forever it would be Porchester Square. But my current obsession is Barry M Blue Moon.

  • Hannah

Essie Wicked. The only colour I repeatedly repurchase. LOVE!

  • Anna

    Mavala Izmir.

  • Chrissabella

    Great color, loving Essie Raspberry.

nails inc victoria – it was free in glamour once and since them i ALWAYS have a spare. it suits my skin tone so much and i always get compliments i love it! unfortunately its more of a winter colour, but it gives me a reason to look forward to autumn!

  • Bethany Walton

Revlon – Vixen. Its all wintery and so sexy, aaahhh xxx

  • My Holy Grail’s Porchester Square too, but Essie’s Sand Tropez is a recent love of mine 🙂 x

  • Stephanie

Essie’s Wicked! Just got my first dark mani/pedi of the season!

  • sara

All about the mint greens for me: Zoya Neely is the longest lasting, which is amazing, but I also like Essie Absolutely Shore and Mint Candy Apple, Essie Fiver, etc.

  • Alicia Rose

Butter London’s “Trout Pout”. I can never get enough of that nail polish – finger or toe nails!

  • Jess

Any of Barry M’s blues! (Blueberry, Turquoise, Blue moon) I love the lilac colour Barry M do aswell (Prickly Pear). I wear pretty muted colours so always try and wear something bright on my nails!

  • Amirah Valu

The problem I have with nail varnish these days is that, I own so many I have little time to paint them. I’m starting to invest in smaller bottles if I can that way I feel less guilty if I don’t use them. A colour I love (thanks to you) is Rimmel’s HIP-HOP and I’m tempted to try their vampy purple one with it being chilly and all. x

  • Pink Elephant Blog

I got Porchester Square in a GlossyBox a while ago and it is one of my all time favourite nail polishes! Very similar to Chanel Frenzy. LOVE IT!!!

  • PeonyandPeach

    Definitely Essie Aperitif!

  • GeorginaTheLibrarian

I’ve recently changed go to polish, it used to be OPI Kiss on the Chic but its limited edition and my bottle is looking sadly empty, so I’ve recently discovered Essie Eternal optimist which I am loving. It’s warm so my nails don’t look to dead and although its pink it is a dusky nude shade so looks grown up. Perfecto!

  • Maddy Cane

It is a really beautiful colour, I need to pick on of these up! x

    Maddy from UNSTITCHEDD

  • Kate

I love the Barry M high shine gelly polishes, especially blood orange and blue grape! Great post 🙂

  • Essie’s ‘Mademoiselle’ is the top of the list for me!!! A perfect pinky nude as I’m not allowed brights at work. I’m inspired to do a bit if nail rehab too!

  • Liz

    Simple baby pink, essie ‘Fiji’

    Liz xx

  • Beth Martin

Nails inc Elizabeth street, it’s the most BEAUTIFUL elegant nail polish to wear. Makes your hands look so beautiful. X

  • Sophie Butcher

Definitely Rimmel’s Salon Pro in Hip Hop, the PERFECT red! I’ve been on a nail rehab along with you, it’s so tempting to break it though!

    Sophie xx

  • Makala Johnson

Not sure I’d be very successful at nail rehab! My fave colour
for the summer was Essie Watermelon… It’s an amazing bright
pink and the wear time of Essie polishes is phenomenal! But
now we are heading into autum I’m loving nude colours and
so far this season my favourite has to be Ciate Pocket Money!

I always come back to OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips. It suits my coloring perfectly, and I wear it year-round. Who cares if it’s supposed to be a spring shade? Why limit such a gorgeous shade to one season? uwu

  • Victoria

  • Sascha Sophia Beauty

It’s absolutely OPI’s Gargantuan Green Grape (the version that looks mint!)!

  • YoungMild&Free

For me it’s either reds or light pink. Althought I’m currently wearing Essie’s Peach Daquiri and I love it!

  • OPI Sweet Heart. Screams natural, sophistication and cleanliness. X

  • Katie Allen

    Love this color!

  • Amber Hunter

This looks very similar to Essie’s ladylike which I’ve been enjoying so much lately! Ladylike might be a tad more purple but still along the same line so you’d probably like it as well! I normally go for that color or Chinchilly, a more taupe gray when I don’t know what to paint my nails.

  • the french beauty corner

My top is Frenzy from Chanel 🙂

  • Martyna

my favourite? any shade of red and lavender! I love this xx

    Martyna | NEON MIZZLE

  • I wonder if I’d be able to get this in New Zealand. If so, I’ll definitely be trying it. My go to has been Essie Fifth Avenue for a while now. A bright, fun red.

  • Lindsay

Rose Exuberant by Chanel is my be-all-end-all shade. My second would have to be Lollipop by Essie.

  • Icaria

At the moment I’m all Guerlain Madame Batifole for my berry red fix but this year Chanel Taboo has been a favorite. I have in line for testing, Essie Cashmere Bathrobe and Dior Nuit 1947. Hmm I just realised that with these colors I’m a little all over the place, maybe I should pick up Porchester Square to calm down a bit. 😀

  • JoJo Di Benedetto

I cant’t pick just one top polish. I have a few. OPI Mrs O’Leary’s BBQ is my top shade for autumn, OPI Quarter of a Cent-Cherry is what I reach for when I want a classic red, and when I just want my nails to look polished I reach for Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish in Caramel Cupcake or Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel in Beige Distinction.

  • Danielle

I am a huge fan of green, red, and black in the autumn! Most recently I have been loving Essie After School Boy Blazer – it’s the dark navy from their Fall 2013 collection.

  • Sarah

    L’oreal Greycian Goddess

  • clairabelle0306

If I’m struggling to pick a nail colour, I always go for a red, easy, simple chic!

  • Nikki

    Barry M Lychee!

  • Amy

My favourite go-to nail colour has got to be Essie’s Fiji! But in the Autumn/Winter I do love a good berry red shade!! 🙂

    Amy |

  • Nicole Jade Faulks

Probably for me it’s the O.P.I Big Apple Red, perfect all year round red, goes with pretty much any outfit too! x

  • Laura

Although its best worn in the winter, OPI’s “Mrs.’s O’Learys BBQ” 🙂

  • Georgia Wells

I’m a huge fan of pastels and have been loving lilac and teal shades this year. Seems to always be my go-to colours.

  • Jodi A

I too love porchester square if I’m stuck for inspiration or just fancy a grown up but not boring look. It’s a pretty good base for some of the glitters on the go just now too. (L’oreal sequin explosion!!)
I jazzed mine up with some fuzzy coat!
    Jodi xx

  • Zaza

Essie a crewed interest and Dior incognito.

  • Katie

I love this color but you should try Jermyn Street which is a similar color but a little darker with more grey in it. You’d like it too if you like this.

  • Minty

Nails Inc Basil Street – suits my skin tone & always looks pretty but professional
