An Ode to Individual Lashes

I do love lashes. So I thought I’d cobble together lash lovin’ two-parter; today an ode to the faux ones, tomorrow it’s all about an au naturale curl. Now I’ve spoken before about my on/off relationship with strip stick-on false lashes. Back in the Uni days I was all for the mantra of ‘the bigger the better’, but now I struggle to apply then without a vast gap between my lashline and the band creating a very interesting, though not so desirable effect. But, that’s not to say I’ve completely given up on faux flutters. Individual bundles that can be plopped on in a matter minutes to pump up your lashline have become my new weapon of choice. A five minute fix for a feline eked out eye, that can be wiped away with one soaked sweep of Bioderma. Simples. Plus when applied well no one will be able to spot ’em. It can be our little secret.

Here’s the (cack-handed approved) method I use. Firstly I do my usual lash routine; crimping with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers then applying a very light layer of whatever mascara is top of my current rotation. Next I take a medium-length lash bundle, held with a pair of tweezers, add a dollop of glue to the ends and snuggle the root into my lashline. I start from the outer corner and take three mediums and a short closer to the centre of the iris to blend everything together (a step I missed out in the above picture hence the lack of subtly – good one Anna). Then I brush everything through with a spoolie to make sure they’re all attached and there isn’t too much mascara involved and I’m the proud owner of an oomph-ed up flutter without too much fiddling.
