Estée Lauder Perfectionist Foundation Really is Perfection

When it comes to foundations, I’m stuck in my old ways. CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua is my daily go-to, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk for evenings, NARS Sheer Glow when my skin has gone to shiz, Make Up For Ever HD for filming and I’m still constantly pining for the long discontinued Jemma Kidd Light As Air. It’s a tight knit group and it’s rare that an outsider even gets a look in. But the newly released Estée Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup has been allowed to sit at the table – it’s even allowed to wear pink on Wednesdays.

So here’s the deal. It’s billed as a satin finished, medium coverage foundation that’s pumped with age-defying technology which helps to brighten and perfect. It’s out now online, is available in 22 shades (1W2 Sand is a perfect match for me) and is £37. There’s a brush too that’s been released as the perfect partner for this foundation, but I have to say that I wasn’t a fan so I’m sticking to the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush or fingers when I’m in a rush.

When I first applied it, I honestly had one of those ‘wow’ moments. It’s been a while since I fell head over heels for a foundation formula but this happened pretty much instantly. It’s always a win when the shade match is spot-on and when this glided over it just looked like my skin but better (MSBB – the new MLBB?). The finish was just right with no need for powder nor a highlight, it looked über natural and stayed in place well throughout the day. If I had to place it in the foundation spectrum I’d say it’s CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua in finish, with the coverage of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. There’s nothing I don’t love about it. Ok, maybe the bottle. It’s a bit chunky. But hey – I can handle it.

I may not be the target market for this foundation, but it’s got me thinking. Seeing as I’m such a fan of the natural, dewy, skin-like look maybe age-defying formulas are where I should be looking for my next face base hit? CHANEL Vitalumiére, I’m looking at you…
