Why You Need to Head To MUJI For Beauty

IMG_8661

I’d only ever really thought of MUJI to be good for two things: really, really soft bedding and acrylic storage that might not be the sexiest way to store makeup, but is certainly one of the most practical. Oh and umbrellas. I panic purchased one from there once when it was peeing down and I was umbrella-less. It’s actually a really good umbrella. Turns out this whole time though I’ve been ignoring a big beauty display (I know, this may be the first time in my life that that’s happened), and it contains some absolute gems…

It was Lily that directed me downstairs and told me that I must pick up a pack of their cotton pads. Now cotton pads might not seem like a very exciting purchase but if you’re not picky about your pad purchases then you’re lucky because you obviously choose your cotton well. Believe me, there’s such a thing as a crappy cotton pad. Ones that disintegrate and deposit little flecks of white cotton all over your face really aren’t that much fun. I’m pleased to report that the Unbleached Cotton Pads are really lovely makeup removers. Just the right size and no annoying flecky bits to be seen.

While we’re on the subject of cotton – well, isn’t this turning out to be a riveting post?! – I also picked up the often raved about Fine Stem Cotton Buds. I’ve heard MUA’s sing the praises of these thin nibbed buds and they really are teeny tiny. Fab for perfecting eyeliner or a bold lip. I also picked up these pre-packed rows of 80 Cotton Buds. Great for travel because I’ve been known to have nightmares of travelling to a new place and there not being cotton buds available. Yep, I love them that much.

The other non-cotton related purchase I made was an assortment of Plastic Pots. Again another thing that is great for travel. Instead of buying lots of miniatures and straying away from my usual routine when I go away, I like to decant my current regime into little pots to make it less of a pain to lug around. These also come in really handy when I’m recommending lotions and potions  to friends and family because I now have a little pot that I can pop a bit in to so they can try my suggestions. I’m like my own aisle of Boots sometimes. ‘Got dry patches round your eyes? I have just the thing…‘.

So next time you’re in MUJI, head to the cotton pad area. A bit of a ‘black vest top‘ purchase I know, but you won’t be disappointed.
