Something very distressing happened last week. Some of my most cherished skincare items perished at exactly the same moment, resulting in a painfully large online order and a few days of a crappy complexion while awaiting its delivery. Got to love sod’s law. In recent months I’ve got my skincare stash down – in fact I must show you soon – there’s the odd change or switch-a-roo here and there, but for the most part it’s constant. My routine is filled with products that agree with my face and make things look more glowy and less haggard than they actually are. It’s a tight operation and when one thing is missing the rest goes to pot, so imagine what happened when four things deposited their final pump/spray/scoop? It wasn’t pretty. I riffled around trying to fill the in-transit gap, but a constellation size of blemishes still decided to rear their heads and it wasn’t until my orders arrived that true peace was restored in my pores.
Let’s work through in application order shall we? Clarin’s Instant Eye Makeup Remover has been in my life for a good year now and I think this is my third bottle of the stuff. Being a daily waterproof mascara wearer I need something pretty badass to remove it and this gets to work without irritating my eyes or the need to tug and pull. It makes eye makeup removal look very Lisa Eldridge-like. It’s so good at removing the bumf that I actually tend to wipe it over my face too, skip the micellar water and move straight on to cleansing. Speaking of which, I made a repurchase of the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. Having to use alternative cleansers as a stop-gap between bottles of the Oskia I realised why I like it so much and it’s all in the texture. It’s just very light. A gel that transforms into an oil on the skin making it very easy to work in and wash off with the muslin cloth, it cleansing without feeling too rich or heavy. I was one happy chappy when I first got to use this after my week’s break without it.
The next step in my routine is a refreshing spritz, a kinda pseudo-toning step and for the past few months I’ve been dousing myself in Omorovicza’s Queen of Hungary Mist. This was a bit of a ridiculous ‘I’m sure there’s something out there that works in exactly the same way but I’m just too lazy to find it’ purchase, so any dupes are warmly welcomed. There’s just something about the scent and feel of this. The scent is luxe and the feel very fresh. I need to start restricting myself to two spritzes a day.
Finally I picked up the Oskia Renaissance Mask after using up a sample I had of this. Think the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, then times it by 10. This just makes my skin smooooo-ooootthhh (elongated word completely required). The texture just feels less bumpy and blemishes seem much less raging after a go with this. My new favourite mask? We’ll see. I’m sorry Aesop.
