The Weekend Post #9: Clarisonic Update

I have been using my Clarisonic Mia now for a good 6 weeks, and so I thought it was time to give you guys a little update on how I’m finding it. As I said in my ‘January Favourites’ video, I did go through a 2 week or so ‘purging’ stage when I first started using it. My skin went kind of bumpy and red, and I had a fair few more spots than usual – if I counted them I think it was double digits. Nice! However that has subsided now and I’m left with much more desirable results after using the Mia. My skin looks quite glowy actually, no redness, just nice fresh skin that feels deeply cleansed. I did start off using it twice a day as suggested, but for the past 2 weeks I have only been using it in the evenings and I think that is more suited to my combination, slightly sensitive skin. In the mornings I have reverted back to using my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish with a muslin cloth, and in the evenings I removed my makeup with the Bioderma H20 Cleansing Solution and then use the Clarisonic to cleanse.

The only problem I am having with the Mia, is working out which cleanser to use with it. I started off using my usual Liz Earle, a cleanser that I have been using for the past year or so. But I just didn’t feel like it foamed up enough, nor cleaned really. After I ‘Clarisonic-ed’ I ran the muslin cloth over my face and dirt was still coming off. Not great. So then I moved onto the Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash*, this definitely gave more of a deep clean, but just left my face too foamy! It made using the Clarisonic messy business – froth went bloody everywhere, even up my nose! It also left my face feeling a little dry, so it was back to the drawing board. After a little spend up in Space NK, the lovely Sales Assistant loaded me up with some fancy samples to try, and one in particular, the REN Purity Cleansing Balm, has caught my eye. I received a teeny-weeny 5 ml sample and my face gobbled that up in a week, it seriously loved the stuff. It’s a tub of hardened product, which when rubbed into the face melts into a rich oil that dissolves all the grime. It works well with the Clarisonic too. The whizzing suds it up into a more milky consistency and my face feels clean, but nourished after. It is next on my list! Anyone else have any recommendations for cleansers to use with the Clarisonic, I would love to hear!
