The Weekend Post #74: The Basket Revisited

You remember my basket right? It’s been over a year since I showed you round these parts (see here and here for past basket tours), but it’s still around and holding my daily body, hair, tanning, feet and other miscellaneous essentials. I thought this weekend I’d take you round what currently sits in my go-to basket of beauty bits…

The majority of my hair-caring arsenal now resides in my bathroom with the Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo* and Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner* taking care of rinsing duties, but my styling sash is still basket bound. While my hair is damp post-wash the first thing I do is smooth the ends with Redken’s Extreme Anti-Snap Leave-in Treatment which locks in moisture and acts as my sole heat protectant, though the only warmth that my low maintenance tresses see these days (read: I’m lazy) is a good blast from the hairdryer. Then it’s time to bump up the beachiness with a spritz or ten of Sachajuan’s Ocean Mist which I’m borderline addicted to, full review here. After drying off there’s only two styling products that I ever reach for: Oribe’s Dry Texturising Spray (yes, yes, that one again) which doesn’t really need any more of an introduction and Bumble and Bumble’s Semisumo which is still something I’m trying to get to grips with. A high-shine, low-hold pomade that all I’ve learnt with so far is that less is more. I’m working on it.

The rest of the basket holds a mix of products catering to body, feet, tanning and my schweaty pits, the latter of which, Mitchum Advanced Control 48hr Anti-Perspirant, was the star in my ‘Unspoken Beauty’ post. But I’m a bit of a floozy when it comes to body moisturisers, I never to stick to one but my current limb smoothing routine flits between the Sunday Riley Disrobe* which supposedly helps to ramp-up suppleness and the African Botanics Neroli-Infused Marula Oil* which although is meant for face I drop into the Disrobe when I need to inject a bit more hydration into the mix. It’s my own little pre-slumber science experiment. For feet I’m all over CND’s Cucumber Heel Therapy which seems to keep any possible flakey bits at bay. Nice. Tanning-wise I’m giving the Vita Liberata PHenomenal in Medium a whirl and so far I’m not whopping for faux glow joy. It’s nice, long-lasting but there just isn’t enough colour for me, I’m still suck on holiday-like hues of the Xen-Dark Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe.

So that’s how my beauty basket roster reads for now. Same time next year? Cool, see you then.
