The Valentine’s ‘You-Time’ Pamper

IMG_0823

I can’t say that Mark and I are hugely into Valentine’s Day. Sometimes we exchange cards and though I had a genius idea for one this year (print out a picture of Jim and Pam from The Office, but superimpose our heads onto them and then I’d write, ‘You’re The Jim To My Pam‘ underneath – both ‘aww‘ and ‘vom‘ in equal measures) time and the non-existance of craft supplies in the flat meant that didn’t happen. Maybe next year, eh? Instead we’re planning a chill day. Maybe we’ll do some cooking later, head down to the local pub quiz, but for the most part I just want to relax. Have a nice chill Sunday for once. A ‘me-time’ pamper if you will. Here’s what I plan on doing to switch my stress levels to zero…

LIGHT UP. I do love a candle. They make me feel cosy, mean that the flat doesn’t stink of the tuna pasta salad I’ve just made and create a beautiful light. I’ve got at least one in every single room of the flat, but recently I just haven’t bothered with burning them. Well honey – that’s about to change. Prepare for a candle fest! First one to light up? I reckon it’s got to be The White Company Lime & Bay Candle which is just a beaut of a scent. Think sexy man. It’s kind of what I imagine Ryan Gosling to smell like. Mmmm mmmm.

TAN ON. It has been months since I fake tanned. MONTHS. And even though it’s still technically winter, with all this gym stuff I’ve been doing I’ve actually been baring my limbs more often than I have for probably the last year. So it’s time to tan up (sorry Mark – I know you love it when I make the bed smell like biscuits!). It’s pretty shallow to say but a tan just perks me up, means that I have to wear less makeup and makes me feel all summery. Come on St Tropez Express Tan – let’s see what you’ve got.

MASK UP. I’d been neglecting the face mask step, until I recently found the Estée Lauder NightWear Plus 3 Minute Detox Mask that I mentioned in Wednesday’s post. Because it’s so darn quick and easy to use I’ve actually been whipping it out most evenings. I just tend to apply it where I have textural issues around my jawline, brush my teeth and then by the time I’m finished it’s ready to rinse off. Today though I think I’m going to apply it all over my face and gives my pores a good ol’ clean. WILD.

ZONE OUT. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to read more and though I’ve been turning pages more frequently than I have done in the past, there’s still a pile of books on my nightstand that I need to get through. Right now I’m enjoying flicking through the new issue of Women’s Health magazine that my sister got me a subscription to for Christmas. It’s my favourite mag for its mix of health, fitness, food, beauty and fashion – there’s a bit of everything in there. I find the best way to devour it is with a spoonful of Ben & Jerry’s Cinnamon Buns in one hand, which I’m sure defeats the whole point…
