The Stash Staples

If someone challenged me to build a shelter out of all the beauty products I own I could probably makeshift something that rivals my snug one bed flat. There’s a lot of the stuff and it’s growing by the day with no signs of stalling anytime soon, a makeup mountain if you will – you get the jist. So when a repurchase is made over the act of using up my long line of awaiting testers, it’s a big deal. The product in question surpasses HG status and is deemed a ‘staple’ – definition: a dash to the nearest outlet stocking said ‘staple’ product occurs when the last blob, squeeze or brush is noted – which is exactly what happened yesterday when I went supermarket sweep stylée in the aisles of Boots. So welcome this trio into the stash staple line-up…

L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara – do I even need to say anymore? I’ve lashed my way through countless tubes of the stuff and nothing even comes close to its curling capabilities. I tried to muddle along with other mascaras that were languishing in my collection, but nothing cut the mustard like this one. Repurchase, done. Next into the basket went Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat which is a bit of a tough one. This is my third bottle of the stuff – nothing out there beats its glass-like finish that makes your polish rock hard in no more than a minute. However it’s known to contain Toluene which ain’t that great for you (more on that here) – it’s a trace amount, but it’s something to be aware of. As a non-smoker and practically a non-drinker these days, I’ll take my chances on this one – you got to go of something, right? Finally, I’ve been eking out the last offerings of my bottle of Hydraluron for too long, so when it blobbed out the last of its contents it was the act that prompted my Boots dash. I slather this on each morning as a daytime serum-type product – post-toner and pre-moisturiser – and have found it to keep my dry patches at bay while not feeling heavy on the skin at all. One for dehydrated gals who need a little extra sumthin’ sumthin’ during the day.

So the latest round of repurchases have been put back into rotation and we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief. That is until the next staple gets low. Shoes on, purse in hand – ready, steady, go.
