The New Beauty Launches It’s Worth Investing In

I am having a makeup MOMENT right now. I’d put this down to two things. Firstly, we’re prepping for something a little different in June which has meant that I’ve accumulated quite the beauty stash and it’s getting me back in the mood to try some new things. And secondly, the easing of lockdown has me quite excited to actually get ready, put on proper clothes and leave the house. It’s truly a treat. Lipstick! Perfume! ACTUAL TROUSERS! All of these things have meant that there is an abundance of new beauty bits in my life, and as always there are some ‘meh‘ releases, but there are also some absolute GEMS. So today I thought I’d polish off the latter and give the details on the new launches that are deserving of a spot in your line-up too…

MAKEUP

*Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Foundation in 5 (ad – gifted) – This foundation is such an interesting one. It’s a blurring skin tint and although I’d say that it has slightly more coverage than your average skin tint, it definitely delivers on the blurring front. It’s definitely more matte than what I’m used to, but don’t let that put you off because I would happily walk around looking like you could fry an egg on my chops. It’s skin-like, it’s satiny and I don’t find that it clings to my dry patches either, despite the slightly less dewy texture. I find that when I use a brush with this the product gets sucked up into the hairs, so I prefer to apply this directly onto the skin with my fingers and it blends out in a matter of seconds.

*MAC Studio Radiance Face & Body Radiance Sheer Foundation in C2 – I have just a few drops left in my old bottle so I thought I’d finally pick up a new one, and although the product isn’t new per se, it has recently relaunched with a 30 shade line-up. Whenever I wear this base I’m quite honestly just wowed by it. It makes my skin look so healthy. It’s buildable to a point, but my favourite way to wear it is by taking a few drops onto a flat top kabuki and just blending it all over for an evening-out effect. It’s fresh, it’s glowy, but it also lasts. One of my favourite foundation formulas.

Victoria Beckham Matte Bronzing Brick in 02 – VB keeps knocking it out the park with launches and her latest one is no exception. Firstly, an inclusive bronzer shade range – we love to see it. I’d also say the site is super helpful when it comes to working out what shade you require which is a must for an online-only brand. On one side you have a lighter shade that’s supposed to be your all-over bronzer, then on the other you have a deeper contour shade and I guess that’s my only criticism, it’s a bit too warm to a be a true contour, but it gives a nice natural effect nonetheless and I actually quite like both of them swirled together and applied all over. Being matte it mops up my additional grease too, which means it does a good job of setting things, plus I like it as an eyeshadow – a solid all-rounder.

*Vieve Skin Dew (ad – gifted) – Jamie is just a GENIUS when it comes to Vieve – every single launch is a well thought out product, that’s easy to use, that I immediately want in my collection. Case in point: their newest highlighting formula. Although she already caters in her line-up for those who prefer a powder finish, this is a multi-tasking creamy liquid formula. Love that it’s easy to use straight from the tube and although it looks quite pigmented when you first squeeze it out – a champagne-golden shimmer – once you press it into the skin it melts into the most gorgeous glow that can be dialled up or down depending on your preference. PLUS, it smells like doughnuts.

*Glossier Ultralip (ad – gifted). True Glossier fans will know that it’s almost been a year since there has been a true makeup drop from the brand and we are hungry (honestly they day they *finally* bring out a bronzer is the day I’m truly happy). But Ultralip doesn’t disappoint and was worth the wait in my eyes. They have more sheen to them than the Generation G’s*, and they are the perfect balmy/lipstick hybrid. It’s an instant Glossier classic. In terms of shades, I was always going to love the tawny rose Villa, the baby pink Lucite and the slightly more coral Portrait, although I do feel like there’s a pinky peach shaped hole in the range. You know what to do Glossier

SKINCARE & BODY

*La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Aquagel SPF30 (ad – gifted) – Is this the best SPF product that I’ve ever used? I think so. It’s aallllll about the texture. ‘Aquagel’ is the perfect description for it as it’s almost a water-like feel that glides onto the skin – completely transparent – and then sinks in just leaving a soft sheen on the skin. It’s everything that I want in a foundation. I take 4-5 pumps which is around the recommended 1/4 teaspoon that we should all be applying to our face and necks every morning and it’s so easy to slap on the full amount. It also ranks extremely low in the ‘eye stinging’ category, which is very important for a prolific eye waterer like myself.

*Loewe Aqua Eau de Toilette (ad – gifted) – This basically smells like the summer holiday that I won’t be going on this year. Fresh and citrusy. It’s those hot summer evenings when you’re fresh out the shower and bugging your other half to take a picture for your Instagram before you head off for dinner to consume a glass or two of a pale rosé. Let me just close my eyes and visualise for a moment. But in all seriousness this fragrance is right up my street. I have no complaints and would happily dish out my own money for a bottle once this one runs out.
