Although I might lean into a trend here, or go for a ‘basic with a twist’ there, there is one thing I can always rely on, and that’s a good pair of denim, with a Chelsea boot, wool coat, plain white t-shirt and a simple leather shoulder bag. It’s a classic combination for a reason and easily mixed up by changing up the textures, colours or fits. So I’ve picked out my favourites from each category from NET-A-PORTER* and as I’ve invested in these items myself over the years I’ve found that they are pieces that I come back to time and time again, making them high-traffic items in my wardrobe and bringing my cost per wear down.

In terms of denim you know that I love RE/DONE and their updated 70’s High-Rise Straight Leg Jeans* are perfect for the winter as they are full-length, high-waist and have that vintage-feel to the wash. For basics you can’t go wrong with this JOSEPH Cotton Jersey T-Shirt*, a little cap sleeve with a close fit that makes it great for layering under knits, but perfect for the summer months too. This Toteme Draped Fringed Wool-Blend Jacket* has been following me around for months, but it’s the khaki version that has me weak at the knees. You know I’m not big into colour, but this green just goes with blue denim so beautifully, and it’s heavy enough for the chill, whilst being light enough to wear in the shoulder seasons too. These Porte & Paire Leather Chelsea Boots* are perhaps the perfect Chelsea boot; there’s just enough ‘chunk’, but not too much – such a classic shape. Then finally, I’ll never stop recommending the Loewe Puzzle Leather Shoulder Bag*; although the original version has more versatility thanks to a detachable shoulder strap, there’s something about the baguette-shape of this that allows for more dress-up/dress-down opportunities and because of that it’s a bag I’m always reaching for.
