The L.B.D For Non-Dress Wearing Gals

With an invite to a rather swanky doo sitting in my inbox, my arm has finally been twisted into peeling off my jeans and slipping on something slightly fancier. A dress. I know – shocker. Spotting me in a knee skimming number wouldn’t have been such a rare thing in my body-con loving Uni days (less was always more), but in recent years I can count the number of times I’ve worn such a piece on one hand. So I was a girl on a mission. Out to find a dress for non-dress lovers with an aversion to anything that results in flashing limbs. And I think I’ve found a mini number that fits the bill…

After a marathon browse on ASOS (their ridiculously large stock list is both an amazing and time-zapping thing), I stumbled across their V-Neck Black Mini Dress. In a shift shape, it covers and clings in all the right places, cuts a flattering silhouette on the arm and falls at just the right length above the knee. It sticks with the legs/boobs rule and you could fit a mega food baby under there and other guests would be none the wiser. Score.

It might not seem like the most exciting choice but here’s the thing; it’s one of those ‘be whatever you want it to be’ clothing items. Add tights, heeled boots and a pea coat and you can rock it during the daytime, go with bare legs and boots for a laid-back evening look or secure a belt round the middle and crack out the strappy stilettos for a real evening out. The best bit though aside from the whole food baby disguise thing? It’s a not-to-wallet-walloping £38 from ASOS. I think I’ve found my perfect LBD.
