The Key to Never Letting that Holiday Glow Go

IMG_8223

I not sure if I’ve mentioned it round these parts already but for the past week I’ve been away in warmer climates. I jest. There was sun and sea and sand (I’ve managed to bring about a kilo of the stuff back to the UK courtesy of the depths of my suitcase) and it was all kinds of lovely. Now I’m not one to sit out in the sun, but even while being SPF-ed up to the max, mostly in the shade reading a book, the odd trip I made out in the rays to play bat and ball in the sea (my personal favourite sport) have left me with a post holiday glow that I don’t really want to let go. So today I’m attempting to find the key to keeping it with a routine that follows the three ‘B’s’…

BUFF. I can’t be the only one who goes through body scrubs like they’re shower gel? I guess I have a large surface area to cover but I can’t help but scoop out a third of a tub per bath time. I’m trying to be more conservative in my use of my latest one given the price and the fact that I don’t want it to end. It’s L’Occitane’s Almond Delicious Paste, which smells good enough to eat while exfoliating the skin’s surface and leaving a slight glowy sheen behind.

BEDEW. So apparently this word means ‘to cover or sprinkle with drops of water or other liquid’, but I needed a word that meant ‘nourish’ and began with ‘B’ so lets just make this work. After a bit of sun my body goes into über dry recovery mode so lapping up moisture is key. My favourite at the moment is the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Firming Body Lotion Tan Optimiser which may just be the most non-greasy formula I’ve ever tried. It gives a hint of that J.Lo sheen but without your legs slipping all over each other and causing injury.

BRONZE. When I’m not bedew-ing my body with moisturiser, I plan on layering up with some kind of bronzing product. Of course there’s the Xen-Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe which will always be my ultimate sun kissed limb faker, however I have become rather fond of St Tropez’s offering recently. The Express Tan does exactly that, meaning that leave-on time is limited to a three hour window making it the quickest way to bronze, however I’m a fan of their Tan Booster too which adds colour daily, making it a good choice for topping up post-holiday.

‘Bedew’ – my new favourite word. Thesaurus.com – my new best friend…
