The Five Minute Weekend Face

IMG_8656 IMG_8672

The amount of makeup I wear day to day varies wildly from absolutely nothing somedays, usually if I’m just working from home or at the weekends, to a heftier amount if I’m out for the whole day and need things to last or have recently watched and feel inspired by RuPaul’s Drag Race. Seeing as my Sunday video that’s coming in a few hours time here focuses on more of a long-lasting ‘all of the makeup‘ look, today I thought I’d run through a slightly speedier routine that I crack out on days when I’m feeling like spending just a five minute slot at my dressing table. Enter the fast and furious weekend/lazy day face that I can slap on super quickly…

I’ve been rekindling my romance recently with Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser in Nude. In terms of light coverage bases this is ‘the one’ for me. It’s dewy, but not sticky and sheer in finish, but covering at the same time. Oh it’s just tinted moisturiser goodness and the shade is a spot-on match for me right now. I slap it on with the Louise Young LY34 Brush which gets the job done faster than any other brush. I then dab a little of Charlotte Tilbury’s The Retoucher in Fair under my eyes and on any redness before bopping it in with the Real Technique’s Miracle Complexion Sponge, which is by far my favourite step of this whole thing. Seriously, get one of these egg-like makeup sponges for the fun factor alone. To finish off the face I apply a touch of the Make Up For Ever HD Blush Creme in 225 across my cheeks and blend that in with my fingers. I’m usually a bit averse to blush, but in a no makeup, makeup look it provides that perkiness that I need to look awake and like I haven’t been watching Parks & Recreation bloopers till 2am.

I keep the eyes really simple with just a small amount of the Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Sepia though them. It’s a  grey toned, waxy pencil that defines, tames and tells my brows to stay in place all at the same time. On this occasion I kept my lids bare as I was coming close to the end of my five minute time limit, so I just went to town with the Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara which beefs them up and keeps them looking curled. Then I finished things off with the Urban Decay High-Colour Lipgloss in Liar which is a brown-y toned pink gloss. It doesn’t look like the most aesthetically pleasing thing when it’s swatched, but on the lips it just looks very natural and not too gloopy.

A few old bits, mixed with a few new but I like the finished look and in just five minutes I’m reading for a Sunday of relaxing and eating my bodyweight in Yorkshire Puddings.
