The Fitness Files: May

IMG_8630

Say hello to this month’s instalment of The Fitness Files; an update of all things sweaty that drops on the first of every month. You ready for round five? Let’s do this…

THE SONG TO ADD TO YOUR PLAYLIST – I’m so behind with what the kids listen to these days because I seem to now only listen to my teenage throwback Spotify playlists. I’m currently working on an R&B one, which I’ll be sharing very soon…

THE WORKOUT VIDEO TO GIVE A GO –  the Tone It Up Total Body Mermaid Workout looks like a good one to give a go. It features a mix of kettle bell and weight exercises along with yoga stretch routine at the end. Plus the T.I.U gals are major fitness inspiration, no slacking ‘ere.

THE RECIPE THAT’S WORTH A WHIRL – anything from Amelia Freer’s book Eat. Nourish. Glow. I’ve been slowly working my way through this read for the whole of April and it’s bloody brilliant. It’s really reinvigorated my love for healthy eating and it’s non-faddy, BS-free and to the point. I’ve given the Parsnip Fritter with Egg a go for lunch and the Slow-Cook Beef Curry for dinner and they were both delish.

THE FITNESS CLOTHING PIECE TO ADD TO YOUR WARDROBE – yes, yes it’s from Fashercise again – but those ladies just keep bringing it when it comes to good looking workout gear from brands I’ve never spotted before. This time round it’s the Alala Take Sides Capri Leggings which I sneakily picked up with the VDM discount they ran last month. Funky design, practical fit and with my favourite – sheer panel detailing.

THE ROUTINE THAT I’LL BE DOING FOR MAY – I must admit that April wasn’t the most productive month workout-wise. I fell into the ‘there’s not enough hours in the day’ trap and though I did get a record amount of laptop time under my belt and feel really on top of things work-wise, I’m majorly missing the yoga buzz. Despite the lack of sweating, I vowed to clean up my diet and have done so thanks to the book mentioned above with the odd sweet addition here and there because why the hell not. So now I’ve got that somewhat down, I’d like to re-introduce yoga and running and with the weather warming up I’m quite looking forward to pounding the pavements again. Bring on May!

P.S) I thought I’d add this in at the end because you lots always give good advice. I’m toying with the idea of getting a personal trainer. Yay? Neigh? Let me know below…
