So Lip Oils Are a Thing Now?

Apparently so. Lip oils are most definitely having a bit of a moment in the beauty world right now. First there was the release of the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil. A release which flew off the shelves so rapidly that I never got to get my hands on one; I enquired as to their whereabouts at a counter last week and apparently there’s a waiting list for their return as they’ve been that popular (Lily was lucky enough to get one and raves about how good the stuff is, reapplying it all day ‘eryday). So the first lip oil that I’ve got in there quick enough with is the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil. Same texture as the Clarins offering, but with a bit of a colourful kick…

I’ve got to get this in here early – the scent of these is intense. If you’re familiar with the melon-y scent of other YSL lip products, then think that, but turned up a few notches. It really does get up your nostrils, but thankfully it passes after a few minutes. The only other negative is the applicator. The formula is served in the shape of a squished oval and while the contour of it perfectly matches that of the lips, it dishes out a little too much product for my liking. So there’s definitely a knack with it as not to make things look too glossy. Quibbles aside I actually really like this product. The texture is that of a thick oil and it really does coat the lips in a high-shine finish that feels nourishing, but not greasy (as always with sheeny lip products, I tend to pat it down a little or blot it with a tissue before walking out the door). As the glassy finish wears down a tint is left behind on the lips acting as a bit of a two in one and let me tell you that tint is seriously long-wearing. There are eight colours in total and I’ve tried three: No.02, No.05 and No.07 and though No.05Cherry Me, the vibrant pink – is my favourite by a smidge, the colour that your lips end up with all the shades I’ve tried is very similar. Like a wearable bright pink. A ‘Your Lips But Pinker‘ if you will. Meaning, one will do you here.

So lip oils. You in? Out? Shaking it all about? I have to say I’m behind this little product trend. A 2-in-1 that despite offending my nostrils for a good few minutes imparts colour and moisture? I like.
