New to My Skincare Stash

IMG_9716

I must admit that since moving to the new place I’ve got a little lax with my skincare routine. It’s partly down to the fact that the walk between the bedroom and bathroom is longer (Me? Lazy? Never) and partly because the bathroom is just a bit gross. It’s one of the rooms we’ve yet to tackle and I’m still emotionally scared from the amount of hair I pulled out of the bath plughole when I cleaned it the other day. I’ve yet to man up and have a bath because the plug is the mouldiest, most deformed piece of plastic I’ve ever seen (and also happens to be a bizarre shape so we haven’t been able to replace it!), so I’m sticking to showers and super speedy skincare so I can spend as little time in there as possible. With that in mind, I’ve been having to coax myself back in to my twice a day cleanse/tone/serum etc etc thang and as always I find the best way to do that is to spice things up a little with some new purchases. #Justification

I love a good spritz and seeing as I’m almost at the end of my current one and Caroline Hirons has been raving about this stuff, the Kate Somerville Nourish Hydrating Firming Mist was top of my shopping list in Sephora. I’ve had a few sprays and on the surface I like it. The packing is compact and plastic, which makes it nice and easy to store and the spray function is light and non-squirty which is always a good thing. The formula feels light and fresh on the skin and absorbs quickly whilst giving a bit of extra slip to whatever you apply next. So it’s a good start and I’ll report back when I’ve made a serious dent in it.

Seeing as I’m a bit of a wimp with acids these days I went for the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads Original Formula (for sensitive skin), which again was a product I’d heard a lot of good things about. It’s a diddy pack of 5 sachets; Step 1 which is a surface refiner wipe and Step 2 which is again a wipe but soaked with the ‘deeper treatment’. I didn’t suffer with any irritation or stinging from either, I just left my skincare routine at that one night and woke up with silky smooth cheeks the next morning.

Whilst I was discussing my own skincare finds, I thought I’d throw in a nod to Mark’s latest obsession – Lush’s Kalamazoo Beard and Facial Wash. Now Mark is a tough cookie when it comes to skincare; he doesn’t want to do anything that takes time, smells weird, feels funny, so he usually just washes his face with shower gel in the shower *shudders* and slaps on some moisturiser in the morning, but this Lush stuff? He’s into it. It’s a revelation. I even checked inside and he’s used about 50%. RESULT. I can confirm too that the pineapple scent does make his beard smell very nice indeed.
