LFW has arrived. Five days of the fashion week cycle of hair, makeup, nails, dressing, strutting, running and then models scrubbing it all off and starting from scratch again for the next designer. From the small peek I’ve had at this world before, it’s all a little mad really. But I’m wading into the battlefield that is backstage to get an insight at what colours, textures and formulas we’ll be rocking beauty-wise in a few months time. New York has already given us Thakoon’s purple glittered eyes (my favourite look so far), lilac-tinged lids again at Jason Wu and the grungy mermaid look at Rodarte, but what will London bring to the makeup table? I’ll be clambering across the pebbled paths at Somerset House as well as one can in courts with a camera in one hand, a notepad in the other and a bag tossed over my shoulder in the hope of finding out, but not without these beauty essentials nestled inside incase of an SOS…
A room full of models = Anna the frump. It happens. And not only are these girls all types of awesome, they also have ah-mazing skin. So I’m packing the eye brightening duo and all-round concealing heros, Bobbi Brown’s Corrector in Porcelin Peach and YSL’s Touche Éclat in 1.5* to lend a hand in the racoon eyes and red nose areas. Complexion, kinda there, a bit of colour to the cheeks will no doubt be needed after my late night blog post writing escapades (this is a very frequent occurrence, even in non-LFW times), and By Terry Hyaluronic Blush in Peach Posh is my latest peachy pink toned love. For eyes I’m throwing in three of Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohls*, which may seem a little outrageous, but hear me out on this one; Nude for tired eyes, Taupe for a slick of definition and Bronze if I have a sudden urge to rock the Carine Roitfeld look. Lips without a doubt are going to be taken care of by Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro in 401* and I’ll be lugging around Escentric Molecules, Molecule 01 with me as things could well be getting a little hot and humid back there if you get my drift.
I’ll be getting in the way backstage at three shows today, so expect an on-slew of LFW snaps on my Instagram and a stampede of posts on VDM as I catch all the priming, primping and preening in action. Ready, steady, go. But watch out, I’m like bambi in these bad boys.
