When it comes to ‘The Weekend Post’ I always end up back at face masks. In fact I could probably call this category ‘The Weekend Post Where I Speak Face Masks Exclusively, Shun Everything Else and Spend Sunday Stroking My Soft, Soft Cheeks’ – it could work? For me face masks are the one skincare product that gives instant-ish results; whether it be functioning as an exfoliator, hydrator or blemish buster. They just get shiz done. And they’re such a Sunday thing too, which is why TWP is always littered with ’em. In recent months there’s been five new additions (I know it’s mad, but I can never turn down a good mask), so today I thought I’d pass on the deats for all my fellow face mask lovin’ ladies out there…
Yes to Cucumbers Calming Facial Mask – £9.47 – from Beauty Bay. I would dub this ‘the clay mask for sensitive skins’; never sting-y or too intense, it feels cooling when you apply and the thick clay-texture firms up quickly before needing removal five minutes later. It’s a quick pick-me-up that leaves my skin feeling über soft, but not red faced – making it a good option for the AM.
Origins GinZing Refreshing Face Mask – £23 – from Boots. I’m a bit of a fan of the Origins mask line-up, so I was well excited to see a new addition. A clear gel formula, it’s designed to ‘refresh’, so expect the same icy cool feeling of the Yes to Cucumbers one, except here you leave on for 10 minutes then tissue of the excess leaving some serious glow behind. I’ve been using it in the evening as the final step of my routine as like a really intense moisturiser and wake up with a ready made dewy complexion.
MV Organics Signature Mineral Mask – £33 – from Cult Beauty. A mix-your-own-mask? SOLD. A kaolin powder that you mix with water and brush on a thin layer that soothes, strengthens and refines – I’m in love with this stuff. As instructed on the back of the packet I never leave it on till it’s dry (apparently that zaps all the moisture out), instead I wait until it’s slightly damp and then muslin off revealing polished pores.
Superfacialist Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Pore Purifying Clay Mask – £8.99 – from Boots. It’s got to be said that you get some serious bang for your buck – 125ml’s of product for £8.99 – that’s 25% more product than any of the others mentioned here. The formula is good too: pretty gentle for a clay mask, doesn’t feel dehydrating to the skin and has done a good job at halting any blemishes that have reared their ugly heads.
Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask – £10.50 – from Boots. Be warned, this bottle needs a good shake at first, but once it’s well and truly mixed you’re on to some serious hardcore stuff here. It’s weirdly warming when it comes into contact with the skin but don’t be put off, just be wary as to its placement. For me, I just pop it on my chin where blackheads are rife. Now they’ve not completely scarpered, but they’re definitely looking a little weaker.
