A few weekends ago Lily and Rich came to visit. We had a great time and when they left I was sad and wondered why we couldn’t all just live together, or at least next door to each other Friends-style. How fun would that be?! With them being on the move as well Lily suggested some interior retail therapy as our day plans and never one to say no to shopping, I obliged and concocted a little tour of the best homeware shops that Brighton has to offer (surely that’s a post right there? Want to see that?). It was so much fun. Lily was in full-on spending mode (my favourite kind of Lily mode) and we both ended up picking some one-off items that should help our new places feel a bit more homely. So today I thought I’d show you my extremely green haul because it’s the weekend, I’m feeling chill and all I’m planning on doing today is watering my new plants and reading a book. WILD…
Let’s talk about the first picture. Now that huge fern wasn’t something I picked up on the aforementioned shopping trip, but instead something I saw then and couldn’t stop thinking about so picked it up another day (sans Mark – shhhhh!). If you ever find yourself by Florian along Western Road then hop in because they do the most beautiful plants and most are available with a pot too which is very handy indeed. They do a tonne of succulents and I want them all.
Speaking of succulents both Lily and I picked up a few from I Gigi, again a spot along Western Road (watch out because there’s two quite close together – one’s a clothing shop and the other is a homeware store/cafe). We had breakfast upstairs – try the Dippy Eggs and Soldiers, it sounds so simple but tastes amazing – then we headed downstairs which is basically like neutral interiors Pinterest porn. I ended up with a trio of succulents that I’ve dotted around my office. Again, these came in pots that were exactly what I’d choose to put them in anyway. Score. Is it weird that I have a favourite one? I love the one that looks like lots of little stars on top of each other, if you wondering. Let’s hope succulent-lover Mark never reads that description…
They also do candles in there and you know that candles are one of my favourite items in the entire world so naturally I had to pick up two. I went for Lemongrass and Fresh Fig which I actually quite like burning together. The combination is both fruity and green and zingy all at the same time. I think they’d make a lovely gift – Mum and Sister, you know what you’re getting for Christmas. The final thing I picked up were two random bits of coral that I fished out from a huge bowl of the stuff. I have no idea why I picked these up, other than that they looked cool, Mark liked them too and I thought they might look cute as a photo prop. Lame, but true. I guess they give off a beachy vibe too, so it’s a nice reminder that the sea is just down the road. Lovely. Now back to my book… Happy Sunday!
