Over and Pout

I’ve stumbled across an influx of new lip launches recently. Pencils, lipsticks, lacquers, matte balms in a whole load of colours and in a whole load of textures. So today I’m breaking the new offerings down for all budgets and all lip product preferences. Need I say anymore…

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy CC Lipstick – these are Giorgio Armani’s first foray into the CC world, labelling their whooping 36-shade line as loaded with ‘Colour’ and ‘Care’ – you see what they did there? These give a sheer wash of colour for the most part, but can be layered up for a more intense, dewy-finished lip look. My favourites shades? Well I’m all over the orange-tinged red, 301 that matches up with the absolutely gawjus Lip Maestro colour that I lurve (see here) and 100 – a sophisticated nude that imparts just the right balance of brown and pink. Luxe lip lovers aside the target audience here is non-lipstick wearing gals – light on the lips you can’t even feel it working its magic.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer – I’ve mentioned these before when they were first released (post here) and though I had some minor niggles with the formula, you can’t deny that these are the go-to lacquers on the highstreet. Glossy, pigmented and in a load of shades, for £5.99 a piece you can’t go wrong. Speaking of shades for the festive season Rimmel have extended the range with some banging bolds for the festive season and here are my pick of the bunch. Aurora is rich dusky pink, Across the Universe is a wine-stained red and Eclipse (my favourite of the bunch) reminds me of a gloss version of the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 107. Sold.

NARS Promiscuous Lip Pencil Coffret – I promise I didn’t pick this up due to the über cute, lip emblazoned pouch it came with, promise. But five mini lip pencils at just under the price of two full-size ones seemed like a good deal to me and the bag is just adorable. The kit comes with the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Cruella, Never Say Never, Sex Machine and Dolce Vita and a Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover and the star of the show for me just has to be Cruella – winter lip perfection. Though it has reminded me just how awesome the Velvet Matte formula is: easy to apply and with a lasting power that means you have to work to get it off at the end of the day.

Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm – we’ve seen the whole twist-up chubby-esuque lip pencil product thang done a fair few times before now, but one that houses a matte formula? Well that’s new. These crayons are a contradiction in themselves; a matte no-shine texture but with a balmy like, nourishing texture, yep – I’m not quite sure how they do it. The pigments are strong, long-lasting and there are no unsightly dry-spot clinging colours. My top pick is Audacious, it’s the definition of a true coral. They launch on 22nd January 2014 at Boots along with a 10-shade strong Lacquer Balm format too. Now there’s a date for your diary.

Just a bit of food for thought in the lip department. Over and pout.
