I was always a full-on foundation girl, so the move to tinted moisturisers was a surprising one. But taking a step down from that with a new love for BB creams? Yes it’s happening people. BB creams arrived on UK soil early last year and since then they’ve been somewhat of a craze in the beauty world. Designed to offer the best of skincare, SPF and coverage combined I have to say I was never a fan of any that I tried myself. They were always to grey looking on the skin (BB creams typically only come in one shade), too rich due to their skincare properties and not long-lasting enough for my tastes. But there is a new kid in town that is changing my mind, the Origins A Perfect World SPF15 BB Cream*.
This product sits in the middle of Origins Vitazing, a wonder-product for me that moisturises well and gives the skin a hint of a warm tint and a typical tinted moisturiser. It’s nourishing enough on my normal/combination skin, and not to mention packed with skincare goodness such as White Tea which helps to neutralise free radicals, that I don’t feel the need the need to wear a moisturiser underneath. I tend to apply it after toning each morning with either my fingers if I’m in a rush or the Real Techniques Buffing Brush if I fancy a touch more coverage. It by no means covers the skin, but it does somehow manage to soften everything out and afterwards my skin just needs a touch of concealer under the eyes and on my redness (for reference in the photo above I have nothing else on my skin aside from it). Something so moisturising is never going to be the most long-lasting base product in the world, but I do find this lasts a good six to eight hours before it would need some serious touching up. Of course a powder over the top would make it last longer, but I prefer the dewiness of this on skin on it’s own. I have the shade 02 Light/Medium and although when first applied it doesn’t look like the best match for my skin, give it 20 minutes or so and it sort of adapts. Very strange, but trust me on this one – it’s one of the products that shows it’s true finish awhile after you’ve applied it.
It’s available in six shades, which in foundation terms is lame, but is actually rather good for a BB cream, and can be purchased at Origins counters or online for £27. Not the cheapest BB out there, but for some reason I just feel comfortable knowing that something from Origins is slathered on my face for the day. I have never been let down by their stuff – their Drink-Up Intensive Mask? Need I say anymore, I rest my case. So all round a thumbs up from me. Just as I get used to be BB creams, I hear whisperings of CC creams on the horizon, could this be true? But anyways, I’d love to hear what your favourite BB’s are? Have you given this one a go?
