YSL Manifesto Launch

When YSL calls, you go. So earlier this week I trundled up to The Arts Club in London for the launch of their new fragrance, Manifesto. YSL certainly aren’t shy when it comes to perfumes; with iconic launches like Opium and Rive Gauche under their belts, they’re always looking to invent the next big ‘one’ in fragrance. I must admit that I only have only YSL fragrance out on my vanity, the uber-girly Parisienne. But I have to say I was intrigued about what they had to offer…
YSL describe Manifesto as their new fragrance ‘to celebrate women’s audacity, a proclamation of femininity’, and that’s easy to see even in just the sleek, clinched in design of the bottle. The fragrance itself contains green notes of lily of the valley and jasmine, along with a fruity tang of of blackcurrant which leads into a core of cedar wood and sandalwood and finishes with a mellow note of vanilla and tonka bean. You got that? I had the opportunity to smell the three central notes individually and separated out I really liked them (I will admit I kept dunking my head back in the box to have another sniff), but combined into this scent I personally find it a bit too much for everyday. Not something that I would never reach for, but that I would reserve for evenings out where I’m feeling a little brave. It’s very sexy, very warming but also light at the same time which gives it a unique twist. I’m a fresh and fruity kind of girl, whereas this would suit lovers of more sensual woody and floral scents. If you’re a vanilla fan, then you’re going to love this as after the scent has settled into my skin that’s the main note that pulls through. It’s also worth nothing that the ambassadress for Manifesto is the ridiculously beautiful red-head Jessica Chastain, most recognisable for her role in ‘The Help’. Good choice YSL. I’ve had a peek at the imagery for this campaign and it’s certainly something that will get people talking.
Manifesto launches on 19th September and the RRP ranges from £44 for a 30ml bottle of the EDP, to £85 for 90ml. Do you think you’ll be able to take on this ultra feminine, vanilla hued scent?
