Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush

Hold the phone. The heart-eyed emoji inducing launches just keep on coming and this time round it’s Hourglass that are making us all get a bit twitchy on the pursestrings. Imagine their Ambient Lighting Powders crossed with cheek pinching colour and there you have it – the Ambient Lighting Blush. A hybrid between a glow giver and traditional powder blush designed to impart the cheeks with the whole ‘glowing from within’ thang we’ve all been layering up multiple products to achieve for years. Here it is! And in one handy, sleek and mirrored palette to boot. *Sits down, fans self*

The new blush blends consist of a six strong line-up, mixing the best-selling Ambient Lighting Powder formula with a pop of colour. Think an airy, light and soft-focus look – doesn’t that sound dreamy? They’re designed to act as a blush and highlight in one; washing the cheeks with pigment and radiance. Handmade in Italy, no two pans are the same, you’re getting a real one-of-a-kind flush here. Wear alone, or layered up with the original Ambient Lighting Powders for even more glow.

I’ve had a preview playtime with two of the shades. First up, Ethereal Glow – a baby pink laced with creamy white streaks that promises a moonlit effect. This is probably the safest choice in the line-up; a typical suits-all shade as worn in the second photo. On me this comes off a cool pastel pink with a good dose of sheen. It’s more highlighter-y than it is blush-y. Perhaps one for fairer skinned gals out there? My favourite of the two though – and after internet browsing of all the shades – perhaps even my favourite shade of the whole line-up – is Radiant Magenta. It’s a hot fuchsia pink blended with a peachy tan that just looks bloomin’ lovely when applied (see last picture). Now I don’t own anything like this in my blush stash at all; it’s brightening, but not too ‘in yer face’ and the slight shimmer helps to make it easy to apply and easy to wear. It’s like a prettier version of my natural flush. The one thing I would say is that back of the hand swatching doesn’t really do them justice. Smooshed on with fingers they look a little subtle, but dusted onto the cheeks with a bit of layering required for the lighter shades is when they really give those apples oomph.

Roll up, roll up – they’re on pre-order now at Space NK, retailing at £28 each and with stock expecting to dispatch around the 11th February, I’d hazard a guess that the product will be tangible in stores around that time. Let the Hourglass counter stalking-commence.
