A Clarins Dupe? Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss

I’m not really a lipgloss kind of girl, at the moment I’m more of a ‘throw a balm on my lips and run put of the door’ kinda girl in all honesty! But when it comes to lipgloss the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector reigns supreme. However I think I may have found a cheaper alternative in the Bourjois Effet 3D Gloss*. Moisturising on the lips? Yes. Imparts a sheer wash of colour to the lips? Yes. Smells scrummy? Hell yes! Let me explain.

Released as part of the Bourjois Spring 2012 ‘Sweet Paris’ collection, inspired by the world of patisseries, the Effet 3D gloss aims to give the lips eight hours of hydration, a glossy finish to the lips and a light touch of colour. Two new shades have been added to the range, 51 Rose Chimeric and 52 Corail Idylliic, which is pictured above. I’ve tried them both and I have to say that 52 is by far my favourite, it’s much more pigmented and gives the lips a pretty wash of coral. It does have a slight golden shimmer running through it but this doesn’t transfer when it’s actually applied. As far as comparisons to the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector go, the two are very similar. Both feel moisturising on the lips and not sticky at all, give a nice amount of colour and apply nicely. Although the Bourjois Effect 3D Gloss claims to moisturise the lips for eight hours, it’s more like two or three snd cause of the balmy nature of the gloss you do have to reapply often. Overall it gets a thumbs up from me!

If I had to pick between the two I would still say that the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector is top for me as I love the Shade 2 so much, I would also chip in that it’s a smidgen more moisturising on the lips. But if you fancy a cheaper alternative in a wider range of colours then it’s worth checking the Bourjois Effet 3D Lipglosses. The colours 51 and 52 are available now in Boots and Superdrug for £7.69. Have you tried any of the Bourjois Lipglosses before? What d’ya think?
