A Blogger Induced Rediscovery

If you’re a regular around these parts then it’s no big secret that I’ve fallen madly in love with By Terry’s Ombre Blackstar in Brown Perfection. A twist-up, thick pencil formed eyeshadow that glides on, stays put through wind, rain, tears, whatever and adds just the right amount of definition around the lash line for a non-eyeliner lover like myself. It’s pricey, but pretty much perfection as the shade name would suggest. I’d become so infatuated with the stuff that I’d completely forgotten that another colour had preluded my purchase to this one and it wasn’t until Lily pointed out the use of the hue Misty Rock in Tanya’s ‘March Favourites’ video (an episode witnessed in this vlog), that prompted a riffle around my drawers. And sure enough – there it was.

Whereas Brown Perfection finds its form best as an eyeliner/smudgey scribe hybrid, Misty Rock is more of a traditional ‘all over the lid’ jobbie (see it in action here). A pinky, taupe mix with a hit of shimmer that requires a layered prescription of mascara to truly look done – it’s kind of foolproof. Start on the lash line, build up to the crease, get in there with your finger to break up the outline and there you have an everyday eye that will stay in place until it sees contact with the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover (my budge-proof makeup remover of choice). It is a texture that’s heavy on the sheen, and being a matte kinda gal it takes a bit of getting used to, but the weather calls for things to get a little glowier on lid and my tip is just to go in light handed with the nib.

They are ridiculously pricey (read: £28 from Space NK for a measly 1.2g of product), but it’s a formula that warrants the outlay because it is just so darn awesome. The best cream shadow I’ve tried? Yeah, I’d say so. They’re my current favourite things to swatch in-store all the way up my arm and I think Bronze Moon will be next…any other suggestions?
