Top Drugstore Foundation Finds

IMG_7923

Recently when I was riffling through my mid-to-full coverage foundation drawer (yes that exists, filed under primers and tinted moisturisers, I have a problem), I realised that there were a fair few drugstore offerings in there. I’m love a good ol’ bit of Boots and Superdrug action, but when it comes to foundations I’d consider myself to lean a bit more to the high end side of things (thanks to my love for CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua, Estée Lauder Perfectionist and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk to name just a few). Though in recent months I’ve found some really decent formulas for in and around a tenner that give their pricier counterparts a run for their money. Before I kick off with my musings, it’s worth saying that I have combination skin that’s currently a tad dry and favour a more dewy finish that errs on the sheeny side of oily. Send in the drugstore foundation finds that it’s worth picking up on your lunch break…

For a satin take on skin… Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation in 810 Classic Ivory – $7.83. This is one for all you U.S guys and gals. I picked up a bottle of this on my latest travels over there and have been so impressed with this stuff. It’s matte-r than what I usually like, but it’s got a soft focus finish on the skin that doesn’t leave things looking dry or looking too uniform and it lasts FOR-EVER. See me wearing it in: The New York Vlog.

For a full coverage finish… L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N1 Ivory – £8.49. There have been comparisons made between this and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and I can see why. It’s got a medium to full coverage, skin-like finish (see it was placed in the right drawer) and is easy to build up, which is why I tend to use this more on evenings or when I’m filming. The pump deposits a nice amount of product (two pumps usually gets the job done) and the colour range is one of the largest on the highstreet. See me wearing it in: The Drugstore Evening Makeup Tutorial.

For a long-lasting base… L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation in 120 Vanilla – £9.99. This is the newest addition to the line-up and I find this to give some serious glow while staying in place pretty well. The pump does give out a ridiculously large amount and I could probably go a shade lighter, but I like this one. If you’re looking for something that’s a bit CHANEL Mat Lumiere like then this could be the one for you. Oily skins stay clear, but dry-skinned gals have a look. I’ve yet to post a pic of me wearing it, but I’ll pop one up v.soon!

For an everyday option… Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation in 100 Ivory – £7.99. I think this may be my favourite of all the ones mentioned it. It encapsulates everything that I love in a foundation: a natural coverage, a long-lasting formula and a finish that’s kinda dewy, but kinda not. The colour match is spot on and even the packaging, though not the most eye-catching, is nice and practical (no overzealous pump here). See me wearing it in: Drugstore Valentine’s Makeup Menu.

For a dewy look… Bourjois Happy Light Foundation in No.50 Porcelain – £11.99. It’s the lightest coverage of all of the above, but one of the easiest to wear. It glides of the skin, leaving behind a radiant, but not greasy finish and makes a great everyday, no-fuss option. I prefer to leave it glowy, sans any topping and have grown quite fond of the powder-y scent (that quickly wears off once you’ve blended it in – don’t panic!). See me wearing it in: this blog post.
