Tips For Tackling The Week Ahead

IMG_1391

Ever since I got back from Coachella I’ve been a bit of a state. I’ve slept more hours than a newborn baby, consumed Vitamin C sachets on a hourly basis, have thought about bed 20 more times than I usually do (and trust me I think about bed all the darn time) and re-watched my Snapchat stories from when I was out there more times than I’d like to admit. Poor Mark has had to endure me re-telling him about the amazing moment that Snoop Dogg joined Ice Cube on stage about 52 times; the excitement of which usually wears me out so much that I need to nap after. Basically my productivity levels have been at an all-time low and I need a major kick up the rear (also Mark needs a medal for putting up with me). The whole ‘jet-lag’ jig is up. So it’s time to pull my finger out and gather some routine back into my life as the new week rolls around. I’m not quite sure if this post will be helpful in any way, shape or form, but incase anyone else needs a kick up the rear to propel themselves into Monday, then this one goes out to you…

Time for a refresh… Let’s talk notebooks. You guys know I love the Staples x Martha Stewart Journals. I’ve used them for years and successfully filled-up three but sadly they’ve been discontinued. I’ve managed to go paperless with my diary, but for everyday to-do lists and general planning I love putting pen to paper and these journals are the best I’ve found size-wise. My most recent one though is completely battered, the cover has ripped off the pages and so each time I pick it up the middle drops out onto the floor. So profesh. I’ve reluctantly come to the decision that it’s time for a change and time for my Appointed Notebook to get some love. Plus, it always feels like a fresh start whenever you start a new notepad, yeah? A nice little trick to get the mind into thinking that you have your shizz together.

Clean out to clean up… Since I got back I just feel like everything is a bit out of place. That’s probably because it is. It’s all piled up in my washing basket that has started to look a wee bit ‘bloated’ shall we say? Today I’m planning a mini clear-out (and five loads of washing!). I like to have one of these every once in a while and with spring being in full-swing (kinda), I feel like now is the perfect time to do it. A quick whizz around the kitchen cupboards, a tidy of my clothes, a quick clean and reassess of my makeup situation – it doesn’t sound much, but it’s one of those things that weirdly makes me feel calmer. It eases my inner Monica.

Plan some time off… Sometimes, time away is just what the Doctor ordered, isn’t it? Today I’m off to my mate’s flat to book a girl’s holiday. Six of us, somewhere hot, cheap and cheerful, with a pool – that’s all the criteria is right now. LOVELY! Mark and I are still yet to book anything for the summer because we’re so indecisive as there are just too many places we want to visit (maybe we should just put them all in a hat?) but I’m really excited to do some travelling this year with my nearest and dearest. To take some time off content-wise, throw on the out of office and relax – you know that thing that no one does anymore? Think Monica in Barbados – without the frizz.

P.S) Reading this post back at 11.23pm I realised what a load of codswallop this is. Can I play the jet-lag card for a day longer please?
