The Weekend Post #65: MUJI Madness

I love nothing more than a good ol’ organising sesh at the weekend. Now there’s something about makeup storage that gets us beauty nuts a little hot under the collar. Where is it from? How do you store your lipsticks? Where do you purchase those little balls you unload into pots to make your brushes stand upright? Are all completely viable queries when it comes down to this topic. Now I’ve watched the Kardashians. I’ve seen the clear cubes that house their makeup, or is that Klear Kube - I jest, I jest – but there’s something about a box of acrylic lined neatly with makeup that just does it for me like it does for Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. And when the call for some plastic fantastic storage comes about, there’s only one place to go – MUJI…

Ever since writing this blog became more of daily occurance, I’ve begun to hold onto products a little tighter than before. Gone are the ‘one in, one out’ days, instead my makeup had started to create its own mountain range in the corner of my bedroom, sprouting a new mound on a weekly basis, I knew it was time to take a step-up storage wise. So last weekend I trekked down to MUJI, the boy in tow for bag carrying purposes of course (poor lad!), and stocked up. My MUJI menu: one triple drawer stack, four wide double drawers, topped off with a single wide stack on top. SMH – I know. But it’s a combination of which that tucks neatly under my dressing table (slightly hidden away from judging eyes), plus I still have room to grow. In terms of how I organise my stash, I popped the triple drawer set at the bottom as it’s slightly wider than the others and stuffed that lip products, then worked up through eyes, blushers, bronzers, highlighters, primers and topping off with foundations. Now it’s still a work in progress – you know what I’ll be doing this weekend, hence the slightly teasing nature of the photos and please excuse the lonesome strand of hair that decided to make an appearance in the lipstick drawer shot. It’s moulting season for me. Nice.

And so the MUJI madness continues: they’re stackable and sturdy nature combined with the general feeling of Zen that occurs once they’re filled can be rather addictive. Leading to a more makeup, more storage vicious circle. Oh jeez, can someone pencil me in for a downsizing stash operation next weekend?
