The Ultimate Festive Matchy Matchy Lip & Nail

IMG_9468 IMG_9494

I do love a good ol’ matchy matchy lip and nail combo. Not exactly spot on mind you but a lipstick and a nail lacquer that come from the same tonal family is just such a chic way to add colour into your look. In fact I find a lot of the time whatever colour I have on my nails plays a bit part in what makeup I decide to throw on that morning and what colours I wear (who am I trying to kid – it’s always black), so in my world nail colour is a big deal #BeautyBloggerProblems. This week I’ve had Essie Nail Polish in Bahama Mama on my nails and so along with a black cowl neck that I’ve basically worn everyday (shhh – don’t tell), I’ve been reaching for a lipstick from the archives…

Who remembers this beauty? The Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 107, or the Beauty Bloggers Christmas Lipstick of 2012 as I like to call it. It’s a fab drugstore offering, lending a matte but not chalky texture, smoothly applying in one clean layer and in a formula that sticks around for a few hours between touch-ups. And as you can see the colour is very similar to Bahama Mama, but not too matchy matchy. The lippie is a great colour and one that goes well with just a bare lid and a tonne of mascara, to even something heavier on the eye. There’s a touch of a weird whiff about it, but it’s easy to suck up and actually it’s one that gives me a whiff of nostalgia whenever I un-click the lid; a reminder of days when I’d meet up with friends and 75% would be wearing this.

Of course there are more where this comes from, but this little burgundy, berry red combination will always be a favourite. You got a favourite pairing?
