The Sunday Skincare Edit

IMG_0528

My skincare routine is very much a routine these days and I’m ok with that. It knows what it likes, what it doesn’t and I’m more than happy to oblige. Anything to keep those pesky, bruise-like, ‘hurts when you talk’ pimples out of the picture, right? I’ve already gone through my daily go-to’s in this post here, so today I thought I’d go through the items that I pull out on a less regular basis but those that tend to occupy my weekend routine…

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask. Sometimes my skin just feels a little bit dirty, like gunky – you know? It usually happens when I’ve transported an absolute shedload of makeup onto my face for filming and even after a good cleanse I feel like I just need a little something extra. That’s where this comes in. It’s a clay mask, but it’s not drying at all and actually makes you feel pretty hydrated after and almost tightened after.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpskin Enzyme Mask. Yep I’m throwing this in here again. It’s been a year now since we first met and still there hasn’t been a mask that came close to this in terms of glow-giving, congestion-busting, skin-sloughing abilities. It does all three, and not in the most pretty and gentle way must I add, but it sure is darn effective.

Yu Ling Jade Facial Roller. Now this seems like a weird one – a piece of stone that’s set in a way that you can roll it all over your face – but trust me on this. It’s something to do with the massaging and cooling action you get from it that just feels like little cold-finged angels are giving you a facial and draining all the excess fluid from your facial contours. Strange, but this just does something magical. And nope two spoons fresh from the fridge just ain’t the same. I’ve tried.

Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask. I chop and change what I use for my moisturise step, but I usually flit between this and the KYRPIS Oil mentioned below. Though this is the lighter of the two; smooth in texture and heavy on the hydration front. Sleep masks are nothing more than a fancy way of saying ‘a really nice, kinda heavy (in a good way) moisturiser’ but I must admit that I’m a sucker for them. If using, I take a pretty huge blob of this on my face and down my neck as the final step in my routine then I call it a night.

KYPRIS Beauty Elixir II Healing Bouquet. KYPRIS is a brand that features pretty heavily in my everyday routine. I use most items from their range in some way, shape or form because the formulas are so dreamy and my skin just gleams with happiness whenever I slather on something from them. This however doesn’t seem to agree with me when I use it on a regular basis (it might be down to the lavender oil content which my complexion can get a bit fuzzy with), but used once a week it feels heavenly and I wake up the next morning with things looking a little clearer than they were before.

Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil. Now I know this isn’t a facial skincare product, but I’m lumping it in here because whenever I’m oiling up my limbs, I’m usually oiling up my face at the same time. One of my New Years resolutions was to moisturise more (I know – so deep) and I’ve been surprisingly good at keeping up with it. This is probably due to the fact that the skin on my body had begun to resemble that of a snake and so feels so bloomin’ good whenever I give it some kind of drink. I’ve used up a bottle of this before and I’ll no doubt use up a bottle of it again. It smells heavenly, isn’t so greasy that it feels grim to put your pyjamas on afterwards and I’ll have to report back to you on those ‘firming‘ claims. Just let me have this doughnut first…
