The (Revamped) Fitness Files: January

IMG_0125 IMG_0128

The Fitness Files are back for another year. The feedback from you guys is that you like the odd sprinkling of fitness flavour here and there and I find that they’re a good way to keep me accountable and motivated on the workout front – win win, eh? I’ve dabbled around a bit with the format to keep things fresh, so here it is. The first Fitness Files instalment of 2016. BRING IT…

THE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO FOLLOW – I follow a load of fitness Instagrammers, so already I have way more than a year’s worth of inspirations to throw at you here, but for my first ‘you gotta follow’ nudge I thought I’d point you in the right direction of The Southern Yogi. Not only is Morgan a seriously bendy chick, she seems like a really cool, down to earth kinda gal. Please can we be BFFs? She showcases some amazing flows on her page, along with her fails. Keeping it real Morgan! I love it.

THE RECIPE THAT’S WORTH A WHIRL Madeleine Shaw’s Raw Almond Cookies. I have a major sweet tooth, so I’m always looking for healthy things to satisfy my cravings with that aren’t a bag of M&S Percy Pigs. These raw cookies are perfect in that they take about 10 minutes to make and keep for a fair amount of time. Not that that’s a problem because I tend to eat them all in about two days.

THE CURRENT KIT CRUSHL’URV Banana Baby Leggings from Frame. Since it launched last month I’ve been eyeing up practically everything on the Frame Shop website, but it’s these funky-print leggings that have caught my eye the most. They’re high-cut on the waist (so fab for yoga), but I’d happily don these to the gym too. You know I have a thing for foliage patterned bottoms. They’re pricey though, so I’m holding off from purchasing. For now…

THE SUPER-MOVE THAT’S WHIPPING MY BUTT – Wall sits. OH. MY. WORD. Be prepared for the shakes big time. I feel like the person who came up with the idea of these is seriously mean, but there’s nothing like completing 30 seconds of ass-shaking, back against the wall sits and crumbling into a heap on the floor (a.k.a – the best bit).

THE ROUTINE THAT I’LL BE DOING IN JANUARY – So I’m in full-on personal training mode right now. I started before Christmas to get a head-start on my New Year’s resolution, so I go and see the PT twice or three times a week. He shouts at me as I moan and sweat through a 1 hour session and then we high five and I thank him at the end for putting up with me. It’s working out well. Though I’m at the beginning phase, where I’m pants at most things and everything hurts, plus I spend the sessions wondering where the nearest implement that I can be sick into is, I’m sure things will get better once I’m in the swing of it. Right? Please send love and Deep Heat.
