The New Nudes

MAC Hue used to rule my lipstick roost. The paler the better in my eyes, and there may have been more than one occassion where concealer did come into contact with my lips in a quest for a nuder than nude pout – oh the shame. But my blanked-out rouge days are behind me and I’ve turned a new corner recently with a trio of ‘new nudes‘ becoming daily go-tos; neither muting, nor altering my natural lip shade they all feature a common tinge of brown that helps them to sit on the lips in a little more natural way. And not in an 80’s brown way, like a neutral brown way that doesn’t make you look like the fourth member of Bananarama.

Burberry Lip Cover in Heather Rose No.05* – £22.50 – John Lewis. The pinkiest of the bunch, I find to mimic my old fave Hue in tonal family the most, but in a much less beige-based way. And as expected, Burberry never disappoint on the lipstick front. Smooth, slick and just the right amount of barely there colour.

MAC Lipstick in Patisserie – £13.50 – Debenhams. Now this one I lurve. It’s like the perfect blend of brown, peach and pink in one all tied up with a tiny dose of sheen; no mirror require. MLBB – any guesses?

Lipstick Queen Saint Lipstick in Peachy Nude – £18 – Space NK. Lipstick Queen are a brand that sits a bit below the radar, but whenever I slick on one of their formulas I experience a bit of a eureka moment. A 10% pigment lipstick means its sheer, but still with oomph, and the shade? Peachy nude, well…

Pale nudes out, browny nudes in and I promise concealer will never come near my lips again..
