The Feline Flick Tutorial

Screen Shot 2014-07-23 at 21.51.22

Wearing liquid eyeliner on a daily basis is something I’ve been working towards for years. Seriously. There are a few factors that come into it; my extreme lack of lid space, shaky hands and my love for fuss-free makeup that means that I don’t have to look in the mirror for the whole day. Eyeliner just isn’t very compatibleΒ with all the aforementioned. But something has clicked in the past year and though it’s not something I plan to don every single morning simply for time reasons – I’m a complete faffer and often find myself naked, makeup-free and with wet hair 10 minutes before I’m due to leave – it’s now a makeup step that I feel I can complete without too much help from a cotton bud and actually enjoy the look of. I credit it down to an eyewatering-ly expensive eyeliner, but a ridiculously good one – you know it, yep that’s the one. So here it is, an eyeliner tutorial from yours truly. There’s a sentence I never thought I’d write…

  • I know this is completely unrelated, but I want your eyebrows! They are perfect!

  • I love that the liner has two nibs, it’s such a great idea! I really enjoyed how realistic this video was, I’m not 100% convinced beauty girls around the world aren’t using 5 cotton buds behind the scenes of their tutorials.

  • Gaby Zickar

Loved this video and omg that eyeliner actually looks amazing. WHYYY show me amazing things that are gonna cost me a fortune?! I’m such a sucker for it and will probs end up buying

  • I think you really suit the cat eye! I really want to try that eyeliner now though gawd dammit.

  • Rachel

black liner with a catflick is my fav look ever!! easy go to simple but stylish

  • You look lovely! I’ve been wearing winged liner every day (on make up days) since I was 14 now! x

  • Rhonda Harrison

I love this video! You are so down to earth, and funny. It’s like we are just sitting at a table together , just doing girly things , like besties. You make it look so easy, and fun. I am going to keep working at it till I get it right. I didn’t think I could wear eyeliner because my eyes are small too. But it looks good on you, so hopefully I can make it work. Thank you for making this video.

  • I’m not too great at liquid eyeliner or just eyeliner in general…so I was super excited when you posted this video! Thanks πŸ™‚

  • Emma

I loved this, so nice to know I am not alone in having zero ability to get these the same, I was practising myself yesterday and failing. Lovely to watch such an honest video!

  • You did a great job with this, Anna! I love winged liner and am really so tempted by that Tom Ford version- the dual-end design is brilliant πŸ™‚

  • Hollyzee

I do a catflick nearly every day and still struggle! Love the video though and glad I’m not on my own in this! x

  • emily couture

I need to practice my flick! Xx

  • Geena

Ooh what I would do for your brows, Anna! Unfortunately that liner is a bit out of my price range but i’ll try this technique with my L’Oreal superliner.

  • I feel naked without winged eyeliner. I think I have a serious addiction. Legit. Send help.

  • I’ve learned that practice makes perfect, I used to be horrible at winged liner!

  • Practice makes perfect! Love your nails in this video as well.

  • oh how I wish I was good at eyeliner! x

  • Anna, you look amazing! I love that you’re not an expert with the eyeliner – but it suits you well, really opens up the eyes. our face and eye shapes are quite similar, so I know what you mean about the lid space problem, haha.

also: your skin is flawless, I thought you were already wearing foundation at the beginning of the video πŸ™‚

  • Daniella

  • Awesome video! I’ve never been able to do a matching cat liner on each eye. One always looks like the poor twin of the other. πŸ™

I think i’m the most comfortable with the mac gel liner and the 266 brush. It’s just easier for me. I can never do it with felt tip ones! Too hard for me, i always mess it up :/ So proud of you though, your flick looks amazing πŸ™‚

I know this video was about eyeliner – but your skin?! I thought you had already applied a “flawless face” foundation. Skincare update, please!

I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to eye makeup – particularly eye liner (liquid).
I may just give it another shot now πŸ™‚

  • It looks really flawless on you! x

  • This is really helpful, thanks Anna! I can be such a klutz when it comes to applying liquid liner, but your tutorial has inspired me to start practicing again. (And I finally caved in and purchased the crazy expensive liner to go with it, in hopes that it will be easy to use for a noob like me!)
