The Bedside Table Book & Beauty Stash

IMG_8803

It’s pretty easy to tell what side of the bed Mark and I sleep on, just from a quick glance at our bedside tables. His is stacked high with what he calls ‘a highly organised paperwork system’, cycling magazines, bolts, Allen keys and other ‘man drawer’ essentials, whereas mine is on the whole pretty neat with recipe and wellness books, a few beauty bits and a pillbox with all my supplements in. It’s not tough. I thought this weekend I’d show you how mine currently looks because these are the final things I use in my PM regime and if they’ve made it to bedside status then I must really like them. Because I really don’t like clutter, so to have them out on display? That’s a big move.

I’ll quickly breeze over my supplements because I’m in a no way shape or form a healthcare professional. The box if from MUJI (Mark made the label because he thought it was funny – it made me giggle) and inside there are Omega 3 and Vitamin D supplements and a Probiotic. They’re a new addition, so we’ll see with this one. So far I’m just patting myself on the back for remembering to take them.

In terms of reading material I like to have the latest issue of Women’s Health on the go. It’s the only magazine that I like to read cover to cover (except for the sexy pages that make me chuckle, so mature I know). Book-wise I’m loving Get The Glow by Madeleine Shaw which might just be favourite wellness/foodie book I’ve read yet. The front pages are filled with advice on ‘getting the glow’ and cleaning up your act when it comes to diet and the back pages are crammed with recipes. Nothing faddy or with ingredients that are difficult to find, it makes me want to eat fruit and veg and a load of it. Which is kind of a miracle. I’m slowly working my way through each one. There’s also a shedload of recipes to satisfy a sweet tooth too. I think I might work through those first…

For beauty there’s not actually a lot going on here and I don’t think it’s changed much since we last checked in with it. The This Works Sleep Plus+ Pillow Spray has been a staple on my bedside table since it launched. Does it work or is it a placebo? Who knows? But I find it relaxes me and that’s always a good thing. The final two things I do before rolling over and watching 30 Rock until I fall asleep are apply a lip balm and a cuticle oil. For lip balm I just love the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask which is really thick, really intense and still feels like it’s there when I wake up in the morning. For my cuticles I switch it up a bit more, but I’m currently using the Ciate Beautiful Cuticles Marula Oil Cuticle Care which absorbs quickly but gives my nail beds a nice drink.

Read. Apply. Snooze.
