Skin SOS: Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate

I mentioned the Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate in my September Favourites Video, and a few of you asked for full review of it, so here it goes! About 3 weeks ago now, I stupidly over-used a product on my face that had Retinol in it, before I knew it my face had turned into a peeling mess. My skin was so dry and it felt as though my face was literally falling off – gross! I have always been more of an oily skin gal and wished for drier skin, but those few days where I was really struggling with the flakiness were terrible – makeup clung to dry patches and whatever I seemed to used just emphasised how awful my skin was looking. I was racking my brains for something that would rid me of my dry skin woes and then I remembered this.
I got the Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate ages ago, and I drag it out of my collection whenever my skin is in desperate need of rescuing. At £19 for the 10ml roller-ball version that I have, it’s not the cheapest skincare product out there, but I use this for a multitude of skincare problems, plus you need to use the tiniest amount – I use this once a week or so and just under half the bottle has lasted 6 months. Being an oily-skinned gal myself I had never envisaged myself using an oil, but after watching Tanya Burr  regularly rave about the benefits of face oils, I decided to go! And she was right, if you find a face oil that works for you it does leave your skin feeling greasy at all, after using it my skin just feels moisturised, plumped and balanced.
The Superskin Concentrate contains a load of skin-loving oils – avocado, rosehip, argan, lavender, hazelnut, and like all Liz Earle products has that refreshing, ‘natural’ smell. There are a few occasions when this is wheeled out of my skincare drawers – if my skin is super spotty, dry, lacking radiance or I just fancy giving myself a little pamper. As it is an oil it definitely is more of a night-time treatment, I use the roller-ball to dispense a healthy amount in my hands and then gently massage it into my face after cleansing and toning. It is quite a thin consistency, which is why the set-up of having it in a roller-ball works well, but it sinks into the skin well, almost like you skin is drinking it up. Liz Earle suggest that you then use a moisturiser after and think of the Superskin Concentrate as more of a serum almost, but I find that as my skin lends itself more to the oily side I don’t need that extra step. It slots into my skincare routine well, and like I said I just use it whenever I feel my skin needs it, whether that be once a week or everyday. As I said in my September Favourites video, the combination of using this after I had cleansed and toned and then exfoliated all with Liz Earle products, got my skin back in tip-top condition in a matter of days!
