Polishes That Make Hands Look Healthy

Ok, now this may seem like a bit of a bizarre premise for a post, but hear me out on this one. When I spotted the new Models Own ‘Polish for Tans’ Collection, white-based lacquers that are designed flatter faux glowed or sun-kissed skin, it got me thinking that while the collection was a beaut – I couldn’t take my peepers off Lily’s nails when she came over the other day – I must have some bottles in my collection that perform a similar function. Colours that pop and make hands look like they’d be right at home cuddling a Pina Colada between them. Here are five that I found:

Mavala Nail Colour Creme in Ivory Beige – a good nude can be hard to find, but ladies this is it. A bone-beige with just a tinge of pink to stop things looking too mannequin hand-sy. Plus the formula, as with all Mavala, is a good’un; opaque, thick and and good to go in two coats.

Butter London Nail Lacquer in Cake-Hole – and the award for best nail polish name ever goes to….this one. Name aside, can we just take a moment to absorb the shade of this highlighter pink? This stuff is bright, goes on glossy but dries kinda matte (top coat suggested) and didn’t require too much layering.

Maybelline Forever Strong Gel Nail Colour in Mint for Life – the brush on this comes just how I like them: firm, curved and easy to control (oh er) and I’ve found this white-based mint to be surprisingly flattering on anyone who’s raided through my stash and painted it on. One of my all-time favourite pastels.

Nails Inc Nail Polish in Portobello – who remembers this blast from the past? If coral and orange had a baby then this bottle would be its offspring. I foresee that this will be one that comes out every summer for years to come – what’s not to love about it? I find even when I’ve been seriously slacking in the fake tan department this one still manages to perk things up.

Essie Nail Varnish in Bikini So Teenyanother cute name and another blast from the past. If baby blues are a bit too sickly sweet for you then this periwinkle lilac is the next best thing. I’m guilty of lobbing this on with just one coat while running out the door – and you all know I do love a one coat wonder.
