My Bedside Beauty Bumf

IMG_8326

If there is one place that stays pretty constant beauty-wise, it’s my bedside stash. It’s tucked away in the corner and though it’s a MUJI caddy that I pick something up from on a once an evening basis, I often forget about it – using it for its nourishing powers and then heading right off to the land of nod. Moisture crew aside there are a few sleeping aids that live there too along with an eye mask that can come in quite handy in the mornings after a late one when you just want to have one of those ‘ahhhh‘ cooling moments . Wanna see?

I’ll mention my most-used first, which unsurprisingly comes in the form of Clinique’s Repairwear Intensive Lip Treatment and I have to say that this is up there with By Terry Baume de Rose in terms of formula. It’s very similar, perhaps with a bit more slip and in handy twist-up form so it’s easy to slap on while I’ve only got one eye half open. Lips sorted, for hands I’m rather fond of Sarah Chapman’s Skinesis Overnight Hand and Nail Treatment. Unlike your usual hand creams this stuff deposits as an oil and pampers your paws in a way that I’ve never experienced before. I’ve got my Mum hooked on it too. Then for feet I like to slick on L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Dry Skin Foot Cream when I can be arsed (which is about once a week month).

That ‘ohhh, ahhh’ eye stuff I was talking about is another L’Occitane purchase – their Eye Care & Mask Duo. It’s one of those metal tip dispensed formulas which gives that cooling effect and can be loaded on as a leave-on mask which I end up reaching for on mornings where my face is feeling about four times puffier than it did when I fell asleep.

Though I’m a deep sleeper who can usually nod off in a matter of minutes, sometimes my brain just doesn’t cooperate and I need something to help nudge it into a lower gear. That’s where the following two come in: the Neal’s Yard Remedies to Roll Night Time and the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. Both smell beyond heavenly and care great for not just bedtime but stressful episodes and travelling too.

Then of course there’s ear plugs (I pick mine up in bulk from Boots). Now I don’t stuff these in every night but when the neighbours decide to have the world’s longest and loudest mother’s meeting below your window at 1AM in the morning, they come in very handy indeed. Been there, done the sleepless night…
